At the end of the 5 days, Learners will attain an RQF Award in the requirements of FD&FA systems for non-domestic buildings BS 5839-1: 2017.

This is a gateway course for all further learning in FD&FA systems.

This course will develop knowledge from the FD&FA foundation BS 5839-1 module and/or industry experience and apply this to the design of FD&FA systems.

Even if you have completed a level 3 NVQ or a previous version of the wiring regulations, you still will have to prove you are conversant with the current standards. So therefore, keeping up to date with the latest wiring regulations satisfies these requirements. Although the BS 7671 can be a tricky book to navigate, our course has been designed in such a way as to ensure that you will have the knowledge to identify and find the topics covered in each of the relevant parts of the book. This 2 day course provides expert guidance on EV charging equipment installation, an important emerging area which is not covered in detail by the current edition of the Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) or the IET’s Guidance Notes. Entry Requirements There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification, however we do expect you to meet the following requirements: Minimum age 18 years old (mandatory) Must be able to demonstrate the following competencies Be able to correctly install and terminate: pvc/pvc cable (twin and earth) Steel Wire armoured cable (swa) Be able to carry out an initial verification (inspection & testing) on an electrical installation and complete the necessary paperwork. This course provides learners with a good understanding of the technical requirements for surge protection for mains power, instrumentation, control, voice and data circuit installations. The course outlines the lightning protection and earthing principles on surge protection and discusses the surge protection requirements based on BS EN 62305 and BS 7671. Modules also consider the need for risk assessment for lightning and surge protection, sources of disturbance and damages caused by different risks and the importance of good earthing and main equipotential bonding. The course explores several examples of good and poor surge protection and the correct selection, installation, commissioning and monitoring of SPDs under different system earthing types.
