Craft workshop using a variety of glass elements with a focus colour to make your own set of trinket dishes. Fused Glass Workshop – Set of Trinket Dishes I want to share my 15+ years of experience with you. This fused glass workshop is held at my Derbyshire studio and gallery space in the middle of Wirksworth near Matlock. About this fused glass workshop Create a set of 3 mini dishes, a perfect size for a tealight candle or to store your earrings and rings. Make for yourself of to give as gifts. Explore two different design/construction processes and use precut tiles, rods and frit balls to create your designs. Can’t make the workshop? Still want to make your own fused glass dishes, check out my simplified (but still sparkly) make at home kit. Explore a little in this short fused glass taster workshop and learn a little about how the kiln firing to 800 degrees c changes the raw/pointy pieces of glass to a have smooth, shiny finish. Simply complete your designs during the session and leave them with me at the studio for me to fire twice, once flat and once into the bowl mould. We will make arrangements to pick up a few weeks later or I can post your finished piece at cost. I will talk through all the Health & Safety in the session but I want you to know now, you will be handling precut glass pieces, they have pointy ends but with the right handling, they won’t hurt you. Recommended for ages 10 and above, all under 16s to be accompanied by a paying adult. You will first learn different ways to texture metal, then you will choose one to texture your silver disc, create a bezel for your stone, solder on the ring or bail and finally set your stone and polish. There will be a selection of semi-precious stones to choose from.

We will begin with a simple single stone grain setting before moving onto a traditional star setting and finally a row of five stones in a thread and grain style setting. During the day we will also look at considerations for grain setting as well as the preparation of tools and possible applications. We have handouts for many demonstrations, but there are always many tips and tricks given verbally by the tutor, which some might like to keep note of. For stone setting courses, it is also recommended to bring Optivisors if you have any or glasses which allow you to see smaller stones. The perfect Mother's Day gift! On the very cusp of British Summertime starting we’ll be spending an appropriately colourful afternoon steeped in drawing/painting Spring Flowers. The studio will be full of plants such as mini iris, grape hyacinths, tulips, primroses and daffodils. There will be cut flowers in still-life arrangements and a wealth of beautiful photo references to work from too. We’ll take inspiration from Scottish Colourist Samuel John Peploe’s tulip paintings amid an immersive, fun afternoon of Spring botanicals. All levels of artistic abilities are embraced in this workshop so it’s a great opportunity to try out a class with plant-lady tutor Suzanne Gibson. All materials and refreshments will be provided - including cake and a complimentary glass of fizz. Minimum class numbers apply.

In this class we will talk about different kinds of wadding and will learn about the quilting together of all the layers with either straight lines or freemotion stitching. Then we will learn to bind our mini quilts (bring the mini quilt tops we created in earlier classes, or bring your own) Wadding and thread all included in the price, as well as a copy of my In Stitches sewing handbook. A two-day, beginner, hands-on course to rebuild a section of dry-stone wall, learning the age old techniques of this satisfying craft
