Aspire, Achieve and Succeed at Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College, Darlington, County Durham Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College is located in Darlington, County Durham in the North East England. Our success and popularity as a college are built upon our commitment to providing our students with the best possible learning environment and highest possible standards of support and guidance. We are proud of the excellent relationships that exist between staff and students and our purposeful, lively and friendly atmosphere. Since opening, the College has been a popular choice for students and has continued to expand. There are approximately 2000 students on roll with a significant proportion travelling to Darlington from County Durham, Teesside and North Yorkshire. We also enrol a significant number from independent schools. The majority of our students have a full A Level Study Programme and the academic work of the College is of a high standard with an excellent record of examination success across the curriculum. In 2021 our A Level pass rate was an outstanding 100% with a high grade rate of over 64%. Over recent years, we have invested more than £7 million in our buildings and facilities at Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College. Developments include an expanded and refurbished library, open access learning areas, Apple equipped Media and Art Graphics suites, state of the art science facilities, a fully equipped performance studio and purpose built progress tutor group spaces. There was also an extension completed to the student common room which included a Costa Coffee outlet. We’ve also done a lot of work to preserve and enhance our iconic Victorian frontage. We are based on Francis Street, Halifax but we also deliver motor vehicle, welding, manufacturing and engineering courses at our Engineering Centre in Brighouse and Motivate Centre in Halifax. Local Partnerships We have four educational sport partners; Halifax RLFC, Huddersfield Town FC, FC Halifax Town and Bradford Dragons Basketball Club. These partners provide us with coaching and facilities for our Sport Academy students. Engaging with Employers Rise at Calderdale College, the College’s employer services and business arm, works with over 500 companies across the region. Through our projects, we have supported over 3,000 employers and engaged with over 90,000 employed individuals.

This book is an updated and expanded version of our popular “Interactive Computational Geometry - a taxonomic approach” ported from Mathematica to Python. It has some very useful extra material and greatly improved demonstrations and text. If you are not an experienced Mathematica programmer, you will find the Python code is much easier to undestand. In fact, when we made the port, we were delighted by just how simple and elegant the Python code turned out to be. We will no longer update the Mathematica version (although it will always remain available) and we consider “Interactive Computational Geometry in Python” to now be the definitive version of the text. Python is a great language for this sort of thing, and we hope and expect that moving to Python will make the book accessible to a much wider audience. We are very excited about this book! We have developed a complete process, including software, for creating long-form texts as interactive Jupyter notebooks and this book is the first result of our efforts.
