Description Greek History Diploma Greek History Diploma course is on offer from Elearncollege. The Greek History Diploma course is a journey through the history of the progress of the great Greek civilisation in the fields of politics, intellect, and creativity. The course starts with a deep dive into the Bronze age and ends with the classical period. The course outlines everything we know as ancient Greece today, including the various places and the lives of the Greeks as their history developed. The Greek History Diploma course surveys the necessary and significant changes of the Greek civilisation, including the foundational events that may be imagined or real, the great wars they fought, and their most essential cultural traditions and social institutions. The course explores the ancient Greek's perceptions of the world surrounding them and their place in it. It attempts to heed the calls of their slaves and the women, often unheard of in many accounts of their history. There are many blind spots and previously unexplored insights into the civilisation of the Greeks, which you will learn in this course; mysteries to solve and drama to uncover that will ultimately lead to a better understanding of yourself. The ancient Greek civilisation began between the 12th and 9th BC, known as the Greek Dark Ages. This period ended with the end of antiquity circa 600AD. What followed was the Early Middle Ages and the era known as the Byzantine period. About three centuries after the collapse of the Late Bronze Age and Mycenaean Greece, the formation of the Greek urban poleis began during the 8th century BC. This marked the Archaic period's start and the Mediterranean Basin colonisation. The period preceded the Classical Greece era, beginning with the Greco-Persian war and extending to the 4th century and 5th century BC. Hellenistic civilisation spread from the western Mediterranean to Central Asia with the conquests of Alexander the Great, the ruler of Macedonia. The Hellenistic era met its end as the Roman Republic took over the eastern Mediterranean, and the Roman Province of Macedonia was annexed from Roman Greece. Later, the Archaea province was also annexed from the Roman Empire. The culture of classical Greece had a lot of influence on Rome, especially in philosophy. Versions of it spread throughout the majority of Europe and the Mediterranean. Because of this, Classical Greece is often thought of as the cradle of Western Civilisation, the pivotal culture that set off the culture of the modern Western world, as its ideologies spread and became the founding archetypes in the fields of philosophy, politics, art, and science. The ancient Greek civilisation dominated most parts of the Mediterranean for thousands of years. Its powerful influence declined around 146 BC, but they were much more advanced in different fields of thought and inquiry, making them influential. The Greeks civilisation remains one of the first contributors to the development and advancement of our species in all areas of religion, politics, science, arts, and our perception and comprehension of our world and the universe. So few cultures have the same legacy as the ancient Greeks, continuing to have powerful concepts like philosophy, democracy, architectural orders, scientific theories, dramatic structure, and even the Olympic Games. Very few other cultures have had the same impact on our morals, values, and sense of being as deep as ancient Greek civilisation. Elearncollege's Greek History Diploma course goes through these three eras- Archaic, Classical, and Hellenistic- chronologically consisting of the Greek civilisation to analyse the times when they existed and their contributions that still impact our world today. One can discover what answers different theories have put forth such intriguing questions. The learners will explore the connection between science and metaphysics, with questions involving their compatibility for interdisciplinary discourse. The Diploma course also examines the validity of metaphysics and the views of philosophers who support and oppose it. Hysteria’s history, rooted in Greek myth, evolved into a Victorian belief of a “wandering uterus” leading to disturbing medical practices. We aim to explore the lived experiences on irregular perceptions of reality with an open mind. Each Saturday includes: a live dialogue between Prof. Ernesto Spinelli and an International Existential Therapist; a moment to share your thoughts and feelings with the teachers; and a final integration facilitated by Bárbara Godoy. This series of ten dialogues set out to explore the multifaceted dimentions and complexities associated with Existential Therapies. It attempts to engage with various interpretations of insanity through the lens of patients often painful, confounding, and deeply unsettling life experiences. Hysteria- between Prof. Ernesto Spinelli and Bárbara Godoy “In this talk, I will compare the Histerical patient to the ancient Greek myth of Persephone, the goddess who traversed the boundaries between the world of the living and the underworld. Just as Persephone’s cyclical descent and return mirrored the changing seasons, hysteria was seen as a condition where emotions and experiences defied easy classification. This notion of transgressing boundaries became a cornerstone of early psychoanalysis. In Victorian times, hysteria took a decidedly bizarre turn. Here, the culprit was believed to be a mobile womb, an organ capable of throwing into disorder and confusion. This “wandering womb” was blamed for a variety of ailments and behaviours, particularly any expression of female desire out-of-wedlock. In a truly disturbing reflection of these beliefs, legal rulings based on this theory emerged. In some cases, women diagnosed with hysteria could be forced to undergo a hysterectomy.” Bárbara Godoy. Bárbara Godoy M.A., Adv. Dip. Exi. Psy, UKCP accredited Psychotherapist and Supervisor, MBACP and SEA – Director of Therapy Harley Street. Bárbara’s academic experience in London since 2008 includes lecturing and researching on the theory and practice of Phenomenological Existential Therapy on Doctorate, MA and professional courses at the School of Psychotherapy and Counselling Psychology, Regent’s University and the New School of Psychotherapy and Counselling directed by Emmy van Deurzen. The question about the meaning of Being-Woman was the topic of her thesis completed in 2005 and evolved into two main Women’s Groups: “Nine muses” and “Four Seasons” which she leads in addition to her individual private practice. Currently, as the clinical director of THS, Bárbara leads a team of over 20 professional practitioners in the area of Psychological services and Wellbeing consultancy. Bárbara is also the founder-director of THS’s Personal Development and CPD Programmes. Prof. Ernesto Spinelli was Chair of the Society for Existential Analysis between 1993 and 1999 and is a Life Member of the Society. His writings, lectures and seminars focus on the application of existential phenomenology to the arenas of therapy, supervision, psychology, and executive coaching. He is a Fellow of the British Psychological Society (BPS) as well as an APECS accredited executive coach and coaching supervisor. In 2000, he was the Recipient of BPS Division of Counselling Psychology Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Profession. His most recent book, Practising Existential Therapy: The Relational World 2nd edition (Sage, 2015) has been widely praised as a major contribution to the advancement of existential theory and practice.
