This 2 hour digital training session is CPD accredited. It explores the so-called 'cycle of violence', safeguarding, sexual bullying and abuse, patterns of abusive behaviour and the long-term impact on children and young people. Essential training for anyone working within safeguarding.
It utilises lived experience and a filmed version of our acclaimed theatre production MOCKINGBIRD HIGH- a compelling and lyrical account of the devastating impact of domestic abuse on two teenage children and their mother.
The Mockingbird High session is two hours and consists of
an interactive quiz on the prevalence of domestic abuse in the UK and it’s relation to children and young people.
A screening of the original play Mockingbird High – which tells the story of a woman and her two teenage children – a boy of 13 and a girl of 16. This explores the impact of DV from pregnancy through to teenage years.
A Q&A session tailored to participants to further explore the issues and the relevance to their work practice – practical ideas on supporting children, safeguarding etc.
A pdf support pack with safeguarding and reporting information, the importance of language, dealing with disclosures, having a domestic abuse aware workplace and support links.
An evaluation
3 CPD points per participant.
Using dynamic original drama has a lasting impact and greatly enhances learning and understanding of the issues.
