Description

Singing retreat in Brecon

Tucked away in the stunning Brecon Beacons, we’re hosting a cosy winter singing retreat, a weekend of music, laughter, and proper connection out in nature.

I (Molly King!) will be guiding you through a mix of harmony singing, vocal improvisation, breathwork, and soothing vocal sound baths, all designed to help you relax, reduce stress, and connect with yourself and others.

Expect hearty winter feasts, special hot chocolates, and evenings spent jamming and chatting around the fire.

There’ll also be playful games, calm meditation sessions, and a gentle guided walk through the beautiful Brecon Beacons.

Come join us for a weekend that’s all about music, connection, relaxation, a chance to reconnect with your voice, fill your cup, and leave with warm memories and new songs to share.

Arriving

When you arrive, I'll give you a little tour of the house, and you can find your rooms and settle in. Your names will be on the doors of your bedrooms, so they are easy to find.

What's included?

A whole weekend of singing and voice workshops, accommodation, plus lunches and dinners.

What to expect

There will be musical games and warm ups, improvisation, song learning, sounding, connecting, feasting, meditation, laughing, singing, playing, walking, relaxing and having fun!

Accommodation

The shared rooms are beautiful. There are mostly twin rooms and two small group rooms available. If you would like to be with a specific friend, or have any special requirements, let me know and I'll do my best to accommodate.

Lunches and dinners
All food is vegetarian and some of the food is vegan and gluten free also. I am making a note of specific dietary requirements as well for our cook, so let me know if there's something I need to pass on.

Tea breaks and cakes
Please bring your own teas, coffees and special drinks you might like for the tea brakes.
Also, if anyone would like to bake or bring bread, cakes or biscuits to share for the tea breaks, and/or to accompany dinner that would be a lovely offering and very welcome.

Breakfast
Please bring your own food for breakfasts and snacks, as our amazing cook is just providing lunches and dinners and no deserts.

Kitchen
The kitchen in the Manor is ours to use for breakfasts, snacks, and teas and coffees for the weekend. The bottom East-wing kitchen is for our cook, so that's just for them.

Toilets and showers
Some of the rooms have en suites, and some have communal bathrooms near their rooms. The downstairs loo is for a disabled member of the group, as it’s the only one she will have access to, so please only use the toilets near your bedrooms for the weekend so it’s always available for her.

Workshop space
Unfortunately there is no lovely big resonant room for us to all be singing in, so if the weather is nice enough, we'll sing outside if we can. If not, we'll be singing around the dinner table which is fine, but it's nice to mix up where we'll be spending our time over the weekend. So make sure you bring warm clothes in case we're outside for long periods of time. Also, bring a yoga mat or something waterproof to sit on for potential morning sessions.

Mental health and looking after ourselves
The final schedule that I will send out a week before the retreat may seem rigid, but if at any point you're feeling overwhelmed, and you need to duck out and not attend one of the workshops, that is of course no problem at all.
We will be checking in with ourselves regularly as a group, but I encourage everyone to be checking in with themselves throughout the weekend too. Listen to your body, and allow what you need.
There will be no judgment if you need to go for a walk, have some time alone, have a cry, laugh hysterically.....
I have no doubt we will all look out for each other, but if anyone wants to come to talk to me privately about something, my door is always open, and I'll be more than happy to do what I can to accommodate anyone needing a bit of extra support.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Can I postpone my place if I'm unable to make the weekend due to illness?

I'm afraid the hire of the venue and the catering costs mean these expenses will need to be paid anyway, so if you're unable to come last minute the fee is non returnable. However the retreats have been in high demand, so if there are people on the waiting list which it's highly likely there will be, your ticket will bee transferred over to them and you will get a full refund. Also, of course you are welcome to find your own replacement to transfer your ticket to.

  • Do we have to sing on our own?

Everyone is learning and singing together as a supportive group, and you don't have to do anything you're not comfortable with, so if you'd rather just listen instead of take part as any point, you are most welcome to do that.

  • Do we have to share toilets and showers?

  • Do I have to bring my own towels and bedding?

No. All towels and bedding is provided by the venue.

  • Do I need too bring anything?

    Yes!

    Food -

Please bring your own food for breakfasts and snacks, as our amazing cook is just providing lunches and dinners and no deserts. Also, please bring your own teas, coffees and special drinks you might like for the tea brakes and for the sit down meals.

    Walking gear -

There will be an option to go out walking, and we'll be going whatever the weather, so bring some water proofs and walking boots and / or wellies.

    For sitting outside -

If the weather is good, we'll do some of the workshops outside, so bring a yoga mat or something water proof so you can sit on the grass without getting a wet bum.
