The NEBOSH National Diploma is designed to provide the underpinning knowledge for a professional career in health and safety. The course is suitable for both newly appointed safety practitioners and those with substantial experience who wish to obtain Chartered Membership of IOSH. It equips holders to advise on effective management of risk across the range of employment sectors.
The NEBOSH National Diploma course is modular in structure and recognises success as the student progresses. Its practical approach promotes the application on knowledge acquired on the course to problem solving in the student’s own workplace.
The Syllabus comprises three core units:
Unit DN1: Know – workplace health and safety principles (UK)
Unit DN2: Do – controlling workplace health issues (UK)
Unit DN3: Do – controlling workplace safety issues (UK)
Unit ND1 is assessed through an assignment split into four parts (simulations, workplace based activities, reflective tasks and a research project). Units ND2 and ND3 are both assessed though Case Studies (simulation only). The assessments are all open book format, further details available in the sample assessments.
Course Structure
Total of 29 teaching days (Additional revision days may be provided at additional cost)
The Diploma assumes prior learning that is equivalent to NEBOSH General Certificate, therefore students embarking on this course must have a good underpinning knowledge in Health & Safety. Students whose qualifications are not recent will be required to demonstrate that their knowledge has been kept up to date, for instance by extensive involvement in, or study of, health and safety.
