About Bay Fusion
Welcome to Bay Fusion Note - some of the information on this page outdated and is available for archive purposes. Unfortunately Bay Fusion was not successful in making it into the last 5 selected sites for STEP - read more here - however we are now evolving Bay Fusion to support the fusion supply chain and industry in the north west - a new website is coming soon ! Come and join us for our first Bay Fusion event at Lancaster University on 3rd November from 1.30pm. Read more here >>> For almost 100 years the promise of fusion power as an almost limitless source of energy has been something many have dreamed of - and now we could have the opportunity of realising this dream in the Heysham and Morecambe Bay area. Over the past two decades the technology needed to make fusion energy a viable power source has advanced at pace and we now have a the opportunity to move fusion from the science lab into the real world. Here at Bay Fusion we believe that the north west of England, and in particular Morecambe Bay area, is particularly well suited to the development and industrialisation of fusion energy technology. Previously we submitted a location in Heysham to UKAEA as part of its STEP site finding programme. Whilst we were unsuccessful in reaching the final 5 shortlisted sites, we are now focussing on supporting regional supply chains, research and outreach to help promote and advocate fusion opportunities for the region
