Our holistic approach gives recognition to the complex lives of the men and women who are caught up in sex trafficking. Our relationship with them often begins when they are at crisis point. For men who buy sex, this can mean mental wellbeing challenges relating to a sense of shame, patterns of behaviour which do not satisfy but are difficult to leave behind, and the risk of permanent damage to relationships. And for women living with multiple disadvantages and therefore extremely vulnerable, they may be homeless, living in poverty, fear and isolation, sexually exploited to pay for a drug or alcohol addiction they have been coerced into by a perpetrator, and suffering from trauma.
