Course Overview:

The "Promoting Best Practice in Basic Life Support Instruction" course is designed for healthcare professionals, educators, and individuals interested in becoming proficient in teaching basic life support (BLS) techniques effectively. By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

This certificate is to certify that the person named overleaf has successfully completed a Basic Life Support Instructors course and has the appropriate qualifications, skills and knowledge to be able to deliver Basic Life Support training in-house.

The person named overleaf has demonstrated the knowledge, understanding and skill to teach and assess in the workplace the following course outcomes:

1. Assess the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency (Primary Survey);

2. Administer first aid to a casualty who is unconscious (Recovery Position);

3. Administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation and use an automated external defibrillator (CPR/AED);

4. Administer first aid to a casualty who is choking;

Course Objectives:

1. Understand the importance of BLS instruction: Recognise the critical role of BLS in saving lives and the impact of effective teaching on bystander response and patient outcomes.

2. Learn the principles of adult learning: Familiarise yourself with adult learning theories and teaching methodologies to create engaging and effective instructional sessions.

3. Acquire comprehensive BLS knowledge: Develop a deep understanding of BLS techniques, including high-quality CPR, chest compressions, rescue breathing, and AED usage.

4. Master instructional techniques: Learn effective communication strategies, demonstration skills, and feedback methods to facilitate successful learning among trainees.

5. Understand BLS algorithms: Gain proficiency in explaining and teaching the sequential steps of BLS algorithms, adapting them to different scenarios and age groups.

6. Develop scenario-based training: Learn to create realistic scenarios that mimic real-life emergencies, enabling trainees to practice BLS skills in context.
