The return of Ravn Clay’s ever-popular Pinch-Pot Pumpkin Workshop
Come and get creative, shaping your own autumnal treasure from stoneware clay.

This relaxed two hour session is designed for younger makers—and the young at heart. You’ll create a seasonal, autumnal Halloween pumpkin using a simple pinch-pot technique.
It’s easy to get started, but there’s plenty of room for skill and imagination as you shape, join and decorate your piece. We’ll guide you step by step, and once finished, your work will stay at the studio to be glazed and fired—ready to collect (or post) in time for Halloween.
Each pumpkin will be dipped in a single glaze colour of your choice (yes, orange is available), with the stalk finished in a contrasting tone.

Make what you like, pay for what you make
Your booking secures a seat at the table. On the day, you can make as many (or as few) pumpkins as you like—there’s no set size or number.
Some people go for one solid, weighty pumpkin; others prefer something smaller and more delicate, or even a whole family of mini pumpkins.
Prices per pumpkin:
Small pumpkin - £8.00 each
Medium pumpkin - £11.00 each
Large pumpkin - £14.00 each
The details
Sessions are limited to 8 people, so there’s plenty of support for everyone
Under 16s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Adults are welcome to join in—just book an additional space if you’d like to make your own pumpkins.
If you’re only attending to support, no extra ticket is needed.
The £7.50 booking fee covers your place, materials, tuition, glazing and firing.
If you’d like your finished work posted, please add a postage option when booking.
A couple of honest notes
Pottery has its risks—kilns can be unpredictable, and occasionally pieces crack or fail despite our best efforts. It’s all part of the process. Also, it can be strangely addictive.
Finding us
The Ford Studio is on the ground floor of the old Reading Rooms, just up the road from Lady Waterford Hall.
There’s plenty to explore nearby if you fancy making a day of it—walks, cafés, a narrow-gauge railway, Etal Castle, a working mill, and more.
