So you’re happy working with clay, you love making with clay, you feel confident in your skills to create and complete your own projects. Supported Sessions offer the space to explore and expand your working practise . The sessions are overseen by an experienced potter or technician but they are not there to teach, just to offer guidance where needed. This is a fantastic space to allow your own creativity to grow and develop.
You must be able to plan and work on your own projects. If you’re unsure if this is the space for you contact Nic and Lou, they’ll be happy to discuss whether these sessions are suitable for you.
During these pre booked sessions, (£25 per session) you can select your own bag of clay to suit your project. Clay prices vary from approx £15 up to over £20 for more specialist clay. Once your work is bisque fired a range of glazes are available to decorate and finish your project ready for the final firing. You need to have a good comprehension of the glaze and ceramic process although advice will be always be on hand.
The use of all studio tools including extra large slab roller, extruder are included.
No clay or other products are permitted from other sources unless approved by the studio staff due our strict firing temp schedule.
Extra large pieces of work will incur an extra charge relative to kiln space required.

Is the studio warm
Yes, the studio is cosy warm and heated
Do you provide clay?
Yes, you can buy white or buff clay from us. We must insist that any clay brought into the studio be approved by us to check that it fits with our kiln firing temperature.
Do you have all the tools I will need?
The studio is equipped with everything you may need for handbuilding with clay. We have a large slab roller, wall extruder plus tools of all types.
Do you supply Glaze?
As we are a handbuilding studio we supply lots of products to help you get to grips with surface decoration. We have a wide variety of underglazes plus an array of colours of our in house coloured slips. There are two large dipping buckets of transparent glaze suitable for temps for Earthenware, stoneware and porcelain. We also supply a large range of brush on glazes all suitable for ceramic art/ handbuilt work.
We do not offer a range of coloured bucket glazes as our focus is on surface design.
We encourage you to explore different surface techniques as all our teachers are ceramic Artists specialising in handbuilding.
Any products brought into the studio by you must be approved for suitability for our clay and kiln firing temps.
Do you have internet access?
Yes, we are able to offer you connection to wifi. We also have Alexa for music etc.
Is the studio dusty/ dirty?
The Studio spaces are kept lovely and clean and free from dust. We use a wet vac cleaning routine.
In accordance with Health and Safety in the studio , our risk assessment is available and updated regularly . All hazards associated with clay and other ceramics/ creative art materials are addressed and mitigated.
How many people are in the session
The group sizes permitted in the studio are dependant on the type of class or course. Larger group classes will always have 2 class or workshop facilitators where necessary.
Can I take work home to finish
We would be delighted if you wanted to take work home to carry on with a project outside the studio.
Can I make large projects
Yes, absolutely , you can create anything that will fit in our kilns. An extra charge will apply if you require an individual sole firing.
Do you have toilets
There are two fully accessible toilets available for studio use.

The studio is within the business park in the first building on the left - Phoenix House. You will see two huge bamboo outside. Parking is available - please request a parking permit on arrival.
