I am a glass artist who's been designing and creating bespoke contemporary stained glass commissions since 1998. I love to create glass pieces that are pulled in from the things around me that inspire me in life. I would love to help you create your own glass piece of your choice to take home with you at the end of our workshop together. Celebrate Yule with us at our Candle-Making Workshop, guided by artist and facilitator Eugenia Rosa, on Sunday 22nd December from 1-3 PM at the Art & Spirituality Centre in Edinburgh. With her knowledge of folk traditions and ritual, Eugenia will lead you in crafting your own beeswax candles—perfect for bringing light and warmth into your home as we welcome the winter solstice. Each candle you create can be infused with your own wishes and intentions for the season, making it a truly personal addition to your holiday rituals. Why make candles for Yule? In ancient traditions, Yule marks the rebirth of the sun and the gradual return of longer days. Lighting a handmade candle symbolises calling forth new beginnings, peace, and protection during the colder months. What to Expect: Craft with Intention: Use natural beeswax and wicks to make beautifully scented candles, personalised with essential oils or symbolic colours. Relaxing & Festive Atmosphere: Embrace a cosy winter setting with other warm-hearted community members. Symbolic Touches: Feel free to bring along small items to press into your candles or attach as a keepsake, making them even more meaningful. Spaces are limited; book your spot early for a radiant start to the season at the Art & Spirituality Centre. Lee Furniture offer a beginners course in Box Making. The tuition is one on one. This course is for the beginner interested in making furniture.  Throughout the day we will make a box (see images) in solid Oak/Ash (Timber dependant on stock) There is an option to upgrade the box to Walnut timber during the course!! The course is hands on and will be based around using tools and machinery to plane and join for your box, use of hand tools to include the correct use of: Marking out tools Planes Chisels Scrapers Power tools There will be demonstrations throughout the day including chisel sharpening, planing and cutting wood. Unlike courses of this type elsewhere, this is a making course, not just assembling pre-cut planed components, you will plane from scratch sawmill-provided timber.  At the end of the day you will have achieved the making of a solid oak box, and learned some of the techniques used in cabinet making. The Box is finished with modern style hinges and a oil/wax finish.. What's included in the price? Wood is included in the course for practising your new skills.  Tea and coffee included for the day. Watercolour for All 4 week Online Course Monday Morning Via Zoom

This one day course is your chance to make the classic Adirondack chair, the chair is made in spruce softwood, which will be supplied.  The course will introduce some basic woodworking skills on mainly power tools, saws, routers etc. At the end of the day you will have a sanded chair, which you will not finish at the workshop, we will advise on finishes you can apply, due to the varying types and colours available. The chair can be transported in two pieces, and will take 5 minutes to set up at home. This is a chance to have a great day out making your own chair and learning some skills along the way!!! This course is a day in length the course outline consists of: 1. The importance of a sharp chisel and plane iron. 2. What chisel should I use and where to find them. 3. Demonstrations of sharp vs blunt. 4. Grinding wheels and sharpening stones explained. 5. Full sharpening demonstrations for chisels and planes. 6. Now get to sharpen as many of your own chisels and plane blades. Lee Furniture offer a beginners course in cabinetmaking. The tuition is one on one. This course is for the beginner interested in making furniture. The course is hands on and will be based around using tools and machinery to plane wood, use of hand tools to include the correct use of: Marking out tools Planes Chisels Scrapers Power tools During the day we will talk about wood selection, Planing, joints etc.. You will also have a chance to use a Tablesaw, bandsaw, router table etc.. You will also have the chance to cut some dovetail joints by hand!! Throughout there is plenty of time for questions. PLEASE NOTE: You don't make a box on this course, if you wish to leave with a finished product at the end of the day, please book our box making course in or other courses available..
