Description

Weekend patchwork quilt basics, spread over two weekend this course will cover an introduction to patchwork on the sewing machine. Using a ‘Jelly Roll’ pack. These are width of fabric two and a half inch strips which are sold in coordinating and complimentary colours to save us having to think too hard about fabric choices.

We will create simple quilt blocks using the strips so the quilt will come together (relatively) quickly. Once the piecing of blocks is done, we will join with sashing, create a quilt sandwich and quilt using the machine. Last but not least we will cover binding.

You will need to bring your own fabrics for this course but we give you help as to where to find your fabrics. On the first session ring along a Jelly Roll and a quarter inch presser foot for your machine or use one of the studio PFAFF machines. Alternatively if you would rather upcycle bring a few items of cotton clothing in your favourite colours which we can cut into 2.5 inch strips.

Both Saturday workshops will be held in the sewing studio upstairs at Stitching Kitchen, we will stop for a cuppa and cake half way through the morning, bring a packed lunch as we stop for 1/2 hour to eat.

I can’t wait to get started and see how you get along with your first quilt.
