Description

In this three hour workshop you will learn a thrifty technique using scraps that would otherwise end up in the bin. We will be creating a cushion with our scraps in this workshop but if you would rather make a series of blocks and create a quilt from your crumb blocks that is fine too!

The block can be bordered and backed with two pieces of fabric to form an envelope cushion.

What you will learn/achieve

Learning the skills to:

Turn quilt leftovers into fun 12-inch by 12-inch blocks which can be used to make a one of a kind cushion.

Learn to include scraps of all sizes from one inch and any shape can be included.

We will discuss the merits of sticking to a colour pallet or to embrace the random with a range of colours.

What's included
  • Instructions from Janine and hands on help as you learn.

  • Use of all the tools you will need during the workshop.

  • Use of the Pfaff sewing machines in Stitching Kitchen's fully equipped studio.

  • Tea and cake.

  • A cushion pad to stuff your finished cushion

What to bring

Fabric scraps from your recent quilts or from your stash to make your patchwork blocks.

You will also need a larger piece of fabric to create the back of the cushion at least 17”x 24” (approximately a fat quarter)

You won’t need to bring anything else with you and you can leave your sewing machine at home. Stitching Kitchen is fully equipped with Pfaff sewing machines and all the quilting tools and sewing kit for use during the workshop.

Stitching Kitchen also stocks a full range of haberdashery and quilting tools if you discover anything you would like to purchase to use at home.

Please note that this workshop is held in our light and spacious first floor studio at Stitching Kitchen, which is accessible by stairs.
