Description

If you've always wanted to make handmade pottery but have no idea where to begin, this beginner-friendly wheel throwing class could be just the thing for you! You'll gain all of the skills and experience needed to create pottery on the wheel.

During this taster, your host Amanda will demonstrate a simple step-by-step guide on how to approach the pottery wheel and support you in creating your first ever ceramic pot.

Don't worry if this is your first experience with wheel throwing, as you'll receive plenty of guidance and class sizes are kept to a maximum of 5 students.

Your beautiful handmade clay pot will be yours to keep and take home.

To keep things affordable & flexible for everyone, you have two options:

1. Craft - Take your pots home right there and then. Once dry, you'll be able to paint your pot in your own time and keep them forever on display. They can not be used for food or drink but you can use them to decorate your home. The painting process will all be explained at the end of your workshop. £35pp

2. Art - Return up to 3-months later to paint your pots with us in a 1.5 hour painting workshop. We'll fire them for you and you can return again a few weeks later to collect (or we can deliver). Because they are fired, your pots will be food safe and useable in the oven, dishwasher etc. £60pp

Either way, you'll finish this pottery-making workshop with a gorgeous handmade pot and a host of new skills!

Good to know:

  • The workshop includes all the materials you'll need and will last 45mins.

  • It can get a little messy so ideally do not wear your best clothes; we will supply an apron.

  • All guests will receive 1 pot each.

  • Art Craft Studio is located at Trinity Buoy Wharf, which is a fantastic hub for art and culture. It's free to wander around and you can even grab a bite to eat or have a coffee at the onsite Orchard Cafe.

  • This is a quick "taster" workshop, so we ask that you familiarise yourself with our studio location and allow yourself plenty of time to arrive because the workshop will start promptly to ensure that everyone gets the most out of their workshop experience. Therefore, we cannot admit latecomers, unfortunately. Thank you for understanding.

  • Everyone is welcome and no experience is necessary. Children over the age of 12 are welcome. People under 18 years do need to be accompanied by an adult.

Feel free to ask us a question, otherwise, we hope to see you in the studio soon!
