Improvers Pottery Throwing: 6 week Course

We’re so happy to now have 4 potters wheels for you to play, make & develop your skills from.

Our Improvers Throwing Course is aimed at potters in their early stages on gaining confidence on the potters wheel. If you’ve completed our beginners throwing course or have experienced from another pottery studio this will be a great course for you.

The sessions will help you gain a greater understanding and knowledge of the clay and ceramic process, to build on the foundation skills of throwing.

Over the 6 weeks during the 2 hour sessions you’ll be given demonstrations and detailed explanations on the foundations of how to advance your practice of throwing on a potters wheel

Across the 6 weeks you will complete approximately 6/8 finished thrown pieces (every piece you throw might not kept, the best will be selected for finishing & glazing … we won’t quite have the bucket of doom!!). You will clean and smooth your work with the option to add handles, feet or decoration techniques to personalise and add creativity to your work. Skills will begin to be developed in turning and trimming your work at achieve beautifully finished pieces.

These will be bisque fired and you will glaze your own work during the course. Ready for the final Glaze firing by the end of the 6 weeks, to be collected from the studio 2/3 weeks after the course has finished.
