The EUSR Safety, Health and Environmental Awareness (SHEA) Power course is designed for individuals who require access to operational sites within the UK electricity supply industry. It provides the Health, Safety and Environmental Awareness training expected by Distribution Network Operators (DNOs), utility contractors and principal contractors working across the power sector.
Delivered live online using Microsoft Teams, the course enables candidates throughout the UK to complete their training without travelling to a classroom. Throughout the day you’ll be taught by an experienced instructor who combines the official EUSR syllabus with practical examples taken from real electrical and construction environments.
The programme consists of eight modules. The first six modules cover core Health, Safety and Environmental Awareness topics common across the utilities sector, including workplace responsibilities, environmental protection, risk assessment, common workplace hazards, occupational health and emergency procedures. The final two modules focus specifically on the UK power industry, covering electricity generation, transmission and distribution together with the hazards associated with working on or near electrical networks.
Following enrolment, you’ll normally receive your joining instructions within 48 hours together with your Microsoft Teams link and course information.
The course is delivered over one day, typically beginning at 08:30 and finishing during the afternoon. All you’ll need is a computer or laptop with a camera, microphone and a reliable internet connection.
At the end of each module you’ll complete a short multiple-choice assessment. Following successful completion of all eight modules, you’ll be registered on the Energy & Utility Skills Register (EUSR) and awarded an EUSR SHEA Power registration, valid for three years.
For most candidates, a digital EUSR card is available within a few working days through the Vircarda app, with a physical card following shortly afterwards where applicable.
Whether you’re working for a Distribution Network Operator, utility contractor, electrical contractor or are looking to enter the UK power industry, the EUSR SHEA Power course provides a flexible, recognised and convenient route to gaining the Health, Safety and Environmental Awareness qualification required across the sector.
