Description

When it comes to eating well it is important to eat a healthy, balanced diet that is also sustainable, to help improve not only our health but also the health of the planet. Eating a healthier and more sustainable diet considers a range of factors including nutrition, health and the environment, as well as a balance of foods that are affordable and accessible.

Although there is no ‘one-size-fits-all’ solution, there are some general principles we can follow, both at home and in the workplace.

This course will provide you with the basic knowledge to help you adopt a healthier and more sustainable diet in the workplace and beyond. It is divided into three short modules:

Module 1: Healthy eating advice - the Eatwell Guide

Module 2: Practical tips for adopting a healthier lifestyle

Module 3: Eating a healthier and more sustainable diet at work

The course starts by reviewing the UK’s healthy eating guidelines, the main food groups and what it means to have a healthy, balanced diet in practice. The second module looks at how to overcome some of the challenges faced in eating well at work including choosing a healthy breakfast, improving snacking at work and healthy lunches. This module also highlights two elements of our lifestyle that research has shown are linked with health: sleep and physical activity. Module 3 focuses on how to make healthier and more sustainable dietary choices at work.

Each module includes a short test, providing you with feedback on your progress. No previous nutrition knowledge is required.

On successful completion of a final assessment, a personalised British Nutrition Foundation certificate will be created (the final assessment may be repeated).

This course will take approximately 60-90 minutes to complete. You can complete the course at your own pace and it does not need to be completed in one sitting - there is no time limit. For example, you could complete the course over three separate lunch breaks.
