Special Needs SEN Teaching Assistant Course Level 3. This online Diploma in Specialist Support for Teaching & Learning in Schools course is suitable for students aged 16+ who are currently working or volunteering in a school in the role of Teaching Assistant, Classroom Assistant or Learning Support Assistant. with children aged 5 and above.
This SEN Teaching Assistant course is particularly aimed at students who directly support teaching and learning in reception or above in an area that requires specialist knowledge or skills. School site staff and administrators would also benefit hugely from this course.
Course Syllabus

Understand the factors that influence children & young peoples development and how these affect practice
Understand how to monitor children & young peoples development and interventions that should take place if this is not following the expected pattern

Understand how to respond to evidence or concerns that a child or young person has been abused or harmed

Students have access to the course and support for a full 12 months. Feel free to complete to suit within this time frame.
Yes, this course leads to a fully recognised qualification. Listed on the RQF, accepted & recognised by Ofsted and schools located in England and Northern Ireland. This course would also be accepted In International schools following the UK curriculum.
Yes! This is a work based qualification, so learners should be either working as a TA or willing to volunteer. If you are currently employed as a TA then this is the perfect scenario. If not, we recommend volunteering for a minimum of 6/7 hours per week. However, the more time you spend in the setting, the better! You should be placed in reception year or above prior to enrolment until you compete the whole course.
The minimum age to enrol for this course is 16 years and above.
Although not compulsory, experience in the TA role would be an advantage. Placement employed or voluntary for a Min 1 day per week in reception year or above is required for the whole duration of your course.
Yes, this course is accepted by Ofsted. Schools in England, Northern Ireland and International schools following the UK curriculum will accept this qualification.
