Do you struggle with creating interesting images or videos for your business? Does the thought of ‘creating content’ fill you with (at best) apprehension and (at worst) shuddering dread?
Whether we like it or not, content is a necessity for business. Posting regularly and incorporating professional and interesting visuals is a key way to grab people's attention.
Through FrameShift, we will teach you the basics of using your phone to make images and videos to help sell you and what you do.
Over the course of the day we'll explain important facets of crafting still and moving images - including composition, the basics of photography using your phone (or phone-tography, see what we did there?), an explainer of the key differences between stills and video, an understanding of useful equipment and a demonstration of simple editing techniques.
The workshop is taking place at the Pavilion, Kelburn Estate, Fairlie, KA29 0BE from 09:30 to 16:30. There will be numerous coffee breaks over the course of the day and lunch will be provided. We want this to be a relaxed and fun day with plenty of hands-on practical experience and the opportunity to ask questions.
If taking phone photos or videos befuddles you a bit - FrameShift is for you. If you procrastinate working on your social media because of the thought of ‘content' - FrameShift is for you. If you are a beginner, and words like ‘composition’, ‘exposure’ and ‘b-roll’ are unfamiliar to you - FrameShift is for you.
When you book, we will email you to ask for links to your current social media channels. If you don't have any yet - that's fine! But this will allow us to see what level you are currently at and tailor our advice to your needs.
Please bring your phone (fully charged!) and a notepad & pen!
The techniques we'll teach you are achievable just using your phone! With that said, there are other pieces of equipment which could be useful to help you up your game. On the day we will provide kit for you to try out and explain the benefits of that equipment so you can make a decision whether it's something that would help your particular circumstances.
Peter Stevenson is a professional wedding and headshot photographer based in North Ayrshire but operating across Scotland. He's also formerly a Regional Trainer for a nationwide camera retailer, which provided him with the skills to explain photography - a notoriously jargony field! - in a clear and fun way.
Gary Copeland-Boyd is an ethereal creature, a creative whirlwind, more myth than man. Over the last few years he's been spotted a mere handful of times. Luckily we've managed to coax him from the astral plane to share how to use his love of story-telling to make even the most “boring” pitches shine! He's worked with the NHS, Ayrshire College and various businesses across Scotland to create a catalogue of catchy content.
As a working professional photographer I understand how to take interesting and eye-catching images. I've also been 'trained to train' - so I can take the concepts of photogra...
