Description

About this Classroom Training

This comprehensive course offers an in-depth look at all facets of floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) projects. Rather than focusing narrowly on engineering, the course provides a big picture view across various disciplines to fully understand FLNG liquefaction. Starting with an introduction to LNG and its behaviour aboard floating structures, the course covers important considerations like location selection and gas compositions that inform early project development. Detailed sections walk through the process from receiving well fluids to exporting finished LNG. The course also examines critical hull design that integrates all other components. Finally, the curriculum concludes with vital construction, project management, and financing concepts. With its holistic approach, the course aims to equip participants with a detailed understanding of the multi-disciplinary nature of FLNG liquefaction projects.

TRAINING OBJECTIVES

  • Understand the physical properties of LNG and how to use these to design and operate LNG technology safely.

  • Describe the principles underlying FLNG design and construction.

  • Interpret location factors and how they affect design.

  • Identify the implications of upstream oil and gas compositions on complexity.

  • Determined the challenges that need to be resolved to successfully site a FLNG unit.

TARGET AUDIENCE

  • LNG engineers who are working in the LNG industry looking to expand their knowledge in FLNG technology.

  • Marine and naval architects who are involved in designing and constructing floating structures, particularly for LNG applications.

  • Process engineers that focus on the design and operation of LNG liquefaction on FLNG vessels.

  • Mechanical and structural engineers that specializes in mechanical systems and structural integrity related to FLNG facilities.

  • Project managers who responsible for managing FLNG projects, from planning to execution and operation.

  • Environmental and safety specialists that are responsible for ensuring safety and environmental compliance in the LNG and FLNG sectors.

  • Supply chain and logistics experts who are managing the supply chain and logistics of LNG production and transportation.

  • Consultants and advisors who are offering expertise in FLNG technology and project management.

  • Researchers in LNG technology and marine engineering seeking to enhance their knowledge.

  • Managers from energy companies exploring investments in FLNG technology and projects.

  • Government regulators and policy makers that responsible for regulating the LNG industry and shaping policies related to FLNG operations.

TRAINER

Your expert instructor is an experienced process engineer with over 35 years in the gas and energy sectors, focusing on liquefied natural gas (LNG) for the past 27 years. His diverse roles have encompassed technology development, conceptual and feasibility studies, supporting owner’s teams during front-end engineering and design (FEED) and project development, due diligence, safety engineering, and training. He began his LNG career at British Gas/BG Group (now Shell), contributing to international projects. He then helped develop LNG consultancies, first with Advantica and then GL Noble Denton. More recently, he worked for the Society for Gas as a Marine Fuel shipping NGO. For the past nine years, he has run an independent consultancy focusing on best practices for LNG (as well as hydrogen and ammonia) marine applications. Your expert instructor has also supported floating LNG liquefaction and regasification initiatives. With offshore LNG project experience spanning the Americas, Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australia, he has been heavily involved in FLNG, including technology management, due diligence, and owner’s engineering for a preFEED and several projects. He has also instructed FLNG courses globally. Beyond FLNG, he has worked on small-scale LNG, onshore LNG plants, gas pipelines, and other gas and energy projects earlier in his career.
