This 5-day course uses a mix of generic well designs and some specific local wells and local issues to build up competency. The training is therefore part training and part workshop. By attending this course, participants will have worked on well designs in considerable detail and have several completed, fully-functional models based on the Oliasoft software. The focus will be on both casing and tubing issues but if required, it can be on one or the other.
This course has been delivered over 100 times in many locations around the world.
TRAINING OBJECTIVES
By the end of this course, the participants will understand and gain the following:
Understand the role of casing and tubing in long-term well integrity.
Appreciate the principles of stress analysis for both completions and casing design.
Gain a level of proficiency where they can design their own casing or tubing.
Build the capability to create comprehensive load cases for both tubing and casing.
Be proficient in the selection of pipes, completion equipment (especially packers and PBRs) and pipe connections.
Learn the ability to predict, manage and mitigate annuus pressure build up.
TARGET AUDIENCE
This course is aimed primarily at Drilling and Completions engineers who would like to perform tubing and casing analysis using the Oliasoft software. No previous stress analysis theory knowledge is required but it would be useful. Prior knowledge of the drilling and completion process is required, and some basic tubular design exposure will be useful.
The course is limited to 16 participants in order to ensure provide adequate supervision during the training. The participants will require a laptop and good Internet connection during the course delivery.

He holds a first-class degree in geophysics and a master’s degree in Petroleum Engineering. he began his career at BP, working as a petroleum engineer for 7 years. At TRACS, Your Expert Course Instructor led integrated teams and developed and delivered training courses for clients worldwide. In the last 5 years, he has worked as an independent consultant, focusing on technical consulting and course instruction. Your Expert Course Instructor’s three decades in the oil and gas industry, advanced degrees, and background working for major companies as well as smaller firms make him a highly skilled petroleum engineering consultant and trainer.
