Suicide prevention is one of the most critical responsibilities of behavioral health professionals. This interactive continuing education workshop equips clinicians with practical, evidence-informed strategies to confidently assess suicide risk, develop collaborative safety plans, and intervene effectively with individuals experiencing suicidal thoughts or behaviors.
Participants will explore current best practices in suicide risk assessment through a CAMS-informed (Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicidality) approach while integrating established clinical guidelines, ethical decision-making, and culturally responsive care. The course emphasizes compassionate engagement, therapeutic collaboration, and documentation practices that support quality care and reduce clinical risk.
Through case studies, discussion, and practical application, participants will strengthen their ability to recognize warning signs, identify protective factors, conduct comprehensive suicide risk assessments, develop individualized safety plans, and determine appropriate levels of care. Special attention is given to improving clinician confidence, enhancing therapeutic alliance, and responding effectively to clients across diverse clinical settings.
