Description
First aid certificates must be renewed every two years. This course refreshes your knowledge and brings your first aid skills back up to speed. Your first aid certificate must be current or within 3 months of its expiry date to be eligible for renewal.
PURPOSE
This 6-hour course aims to refresh first aid skills and knowledge and provide learners with all the up-to-date information. The course emphasises scenario-based activities in a fun and interactive learning environment.
This course meets the qualifying requirements for Basic Life Support according to current New Zealand Resuscitation Council guidelines and the legislative requirements for the provision of workplace first aid.
RECOMMENDED FOR
This course is for people with a Work Safe or Extended first aid certificate (or equivalent issued by another accredited training provider) and who need to renew their certificate.
WHAT THIS COURSE COVERS
The course contains theory and practical scenarios covering the following topics:
Scene assessment & management
Primary assessment
CPR and choking
Bleeding and shock
Medical emergencies
Burns and poisoning
Trauma management
PREREQUISITES AND REQUIREMENTS
Learners must hold a first aid certificate that was issued within two years and three months of either the original course or the last refresher course.
The course is taught in English, and a reasonable understanding of English will be required. If you are concerned about your English, you may contact us to discuss the option of having your interpreter attend the course with you.
Learners must be physically capable of kneeling on the floor to do CPR.
TRAINING OPTIONS
You may choose one of these ways to complete your training, which can reduce your time in the classroom by up to four hours.
Classroom â Complete all training in the classroom (6 hours of training and assessment)
Blended â Complete your pre-course learning online, reducing your classroom session by 2 hours (4 hours of training and assessment in the classroom)
