Description

Course Description

This highly interactive Immediate Life Support (ILS) course is designed to give healthcare professionals the knowledge, confidence, and practical skills required to recognise and respond to a deteriorating patient and medical emergencies safely and effectively.

Delivered by experienced practising nurses and Resuscitation-trained instructors, this face-to-face course combines theory, hands-on practical skills, realistic scenarios, and team-based learning to ensure delegates leave feeling confident in applying their skills within the workplace.

The training follows current Resuscitation Council UK guidelines and incorporates the ABCDE approach, early recognition of deterioration, safe escalation, emergency treatment, and effective team communication during emergency situations.

The course is suitable for staff working within hospitals, nursing homes, community care, primary care, complex care, and other healthcare settings where prompt recognition and management of acutely unwell patients is essential.

This course is CPD Accredited and aligned to CSTF principles and current UK best practice guidance.

Overview

The Immediate Life Support (ILS) course focuses on the early recognition and initial management of the deteriorating patient while awaiting the arrival of the resuscitation team or emergency services.

The course includes a mixture of practical demonstrations, simulated emergency scenarios, group discussions, and hands-on skills stations designed to create a supportive and engaging learning environment.

Delegates will develop the confidence to assess patients systematically using the ABCDE approach, manage airway and breathing emergencies, recognise cardiac arrest, and safely participate in resuscitation attempts as part of a multidisciplinary team.

The training also explores communication, human factors, escalation processes, and the importance of early intervention in improving patient outcomes.
