I graduated from Kingston University in 2020 with 2:1 honours, specialising in guitar. At age 9 I began learning music through private guitar lessons from an experienced tutor. This greatly improved my playing and inspired me to start teaching others. During my studies at Edinburgh College and Kingston University, I took on voluntary and part time work teaching guitar. I taught in many styles while also tutoring students of all ages, abilities and backgrounds. I always focus on the student's needs and let them choose their own musical path. Music is for enjoyment, whatever that may be for you!

ab holistic therapies - kinetic chain release and massage

My adventure with massage started when, just out of curiosity, I took an Introduction to Massage Course in the School of Holistic Therapy, in Edinburgh at the end of 2015. To my big surprise, at the end of the course the principal tutor asked me if I’d like to take a Diploma course in Holistic Therapeutic Massage, since she liked the way I worked. I was able to start straight away, and what a great 10 months they were. I loved it, always looking forward till the next course weekend. I learned a lot of massage pain-relieving techniques (including myofascial release, neuromuscular techniques and stretching) as well as lots of anatomy, physiology and pathology. I also learnt a great deal about myself and the importance of listening and recognising not only physical but also emotional state of people we work with. If I had never got to work doing massage I would always be grateful for the opportunity to do this course. My only regret is that I didn’t do it earlier. It would have helped me a lot in difficult times which preceded my massage adventure. That was only the beginning. After taking my final exams, Simonetta, the principal tutor, offered me a job of a Teaching Assistant in her school and I’ve been working for her ever since. The more I learnt, the more I realised how much more there is to know. Hence my next step was Advanced Myofascial Release – in the same school. I find working with fascia (a connective tissue) really enjoyable. This kind of work is incredibly effective, not only on a physical but also an emotional level, and it’s definitely the kind of work I want to specialise in.

Hi - I'm Roland Wagstaff, founder and principal tutor at Persevere Music. I've been teaching guitar, bass guitar and music theory to private students in the Edinburgh area since 1998, but I've been playing since the early 1980s. I hold a Higher National Diploma in Modern Musicianship and an Enhanced Disclosure certificate. As well as teaching, I also perform and record with rock bands and function bands throughout Scotland and the wider UK and Europe. The main instruments I teach are electric bass and electric/acoustic guitar, encompassing most popular styles from rock, metal and punk to folk, jazz and funk. The Edinburgh Sewcial Club opened its doors in 2014 teaching dressmaking, sewing and other textiles crafts to people of all ages, levels of ability and experience in evening and weekend classes. Due to the success of the business in January 2017 The Edinburgh Sewcial Club expanded into a new larger studio to accommodate more students after all its not just about learning new skills its also about meeting other creative folks and being ‘sewcial’! However class sizes still remain no more than 6 people for dressmaking and Introduction to sewing, allowing each person ample 1 to 1 tutor time. The Edinburgh Sewcial club is open to everyone and has been teaching dressmaking to people as young as 9 and beginners at 7 years old! Everything is taught at a gentle pace so that you can learn at your own level. As well as dressmaking and sewing there are also a number of other textile crafts taught, beading, embroidery, up cycling & mending even fleece mermaid tail blankets! Its a fun and friendly environment!
