A very fun weekend experience! Spike was extremely receptive and worked to help us create exactly the type of knife we wanted. The whole course was informative, safe, and so much fun.

Relaxed approach by Spike (no oxymoron intended) in teaching while he emphasised safety needs, very necessary with a 1200C furnace in operation. And surrounded by plenty of hard objects.

Excellent introduction to forging metal to create knives. Spike was an excellent instructor, offering a wealth of knowledge diverse as the history of the art to the chemical composition of different steels. He firmly believed in forging to finish so encouraged us to get as near to the finished shape through heat/hammer. I loved the end result, not pretty but all my own work, certainly stands out in the knife block!
