Log Cabin Quilting

5.0(46)

By Stitching Kitchen

Log Cabin Quilting gets its name from the layout of the pieces - log shaped strips built up around a central square, or ‘hearth’. In our log cabin quilting workshop, we’ll be taking you through how to measure, cut and sew this traditional block. The fabric choices, layouts and positioning can be used to make a huge range of patterns, and we’ll be explaining how to achieve this too. We’re popping this course in both Level One and Level Two. It’s suitable for total novices, we’ll help you through everything you need to know to build confidence in quilt-making. If you’re not yet comfortable with a rotary cutter and ruler, no problem – you can use precut 2 ½-inch strips, like Jelly Rolls, which make the process easier and just as enjoyable. More experienced quilters might get a bit more done, (the quilt size can be adjusted based on the speed of the quilter) and can benefit from Janine’s years of experience to pick up little tips and tricks for a professional, polished quilt. This workshop will take place over two full Saturdays. You will be provided with a materials list ahead of the sessions. This is a great quilt for getting through your scraps, or sewing with a jelly roll!
