A New workshop for Phoenix Pottery, delivered for us by Helen Worthington of Evendawn Arts, Chorley. Helen’s hosted a number of acrylic and watercolour workshops for us, always a beautiful calm, creative environment. You will leave with a few extra painting skills, a stunning personal creation and a calm piece of mind A full outline drawing of the Poppies will be provided for you on special acrylic paper, you’ll then be shown how to add all stages of the painting, to create a flower-filled meadow – perfect for the approaching Harvest season! There are several ‘layers’ of details which make up the picture, and you’ll get the opportunity to practice the various elements and techniques before starting the painting itself. By the end of the class, you will have a beautiful painting which will fit inside an A4 Frame. Please don’t forget to bring something with you to carry your project home in, as some of the paints may still be damp when finishing the class – a small A4 lidded tray or box will be fine. All of the materials and an apron will be provided. The workshop is suitable for beginners (from Age 14 upwards), and also for anyone who has previously tried acrylic painting before. Acrylic paints can stain clothing and be permanent when dry, so please ensure you wear appropriate clothing (not your best outfit) when attending this class! This is a 13-week term. * Notes on 2-Person Classes Both the Tuesday 8.05pm class in Euston, and the Saturday courses in Westminster will focus on: Learning how to relax The use of the movements in Tai Chi Form (applications) Applying the movements so that you maintain your own integrity (centre of balance) Finding & working from the centre/core/Dantian Developing the sense of ‘feel’ when working with someone else Connecting your centre to your hands Turning a partner’s energy around so as to unbalance him/her We will also work on a 2-Person Tai Chi Form in order to understand applications of moves Posture, Balance, and Intention. By far the most important part of these classes is developing the ability to sense and be aware not only of one's own posture, balance, and intention, but also that of another person. Relaxation. Many of the exercises are ultimately about the ability to act from a very relaxed body and mind, so that (for example) if someone pushes towards you, you don't 'lock up' (the instinctive reaction), but instead you sense the push, and divert it. Initially it is this 'locking up' (which in effect makes you unable to move), that we are working on undoing. This is about getting more control of your sympathetic nervous system (fight & flight), the 'stress' system, so that in difficult situations, you 'roll with the punches' better.

Treraven farm sits on the outskirts of Wadebridge in North Cornwall, it has stunning far reaching views of Roughtor, Bodmin Moor and the Camel estuary towards Padstow. There are 170 acres of meadow and woodland. For the past 3 years I've been opening up ancient routes through the woodland so that people can gain the benefit of being surrounded by these wonderful trees. Within the 2 hour session I'll take you though this magical woodland to a place where we can rest and become grounded, we'll spend time in the company of 300 year old beech trees where I can give you some simple techniques to clear your mind, relax and listen to nature. Treraven farm is owned by the environmental charity called The Gaia Trust, I'll tell you of the work we are doing to keep the woodland healthy...but I won't get preachy! You'll need to able to walk for 3miles over uneven ground, there are shorter routes if you need them. This is a perfect way to relax and engage with nature and your own mindfullness.
