Description
As we breakthrough into spring it's time to refresh your wardrobe for the summer with the Ogden Cami, a great layering piece which is also perfect for a summers day. This beginners workshop will help build your skills with the opportuntiy to learn about partical linings, understitching and creating straps.




What you will learn/achieve
To measure your body to find the best size for you
How to construct the cami top using a sewing machine and iron to press seams
Ensuring the partial lining sits well against the body with understitching
Creating and turning straps
Finishing the cami with a neat hem

You’ll make a muslin/toile and then be able to make further adjustments to your pattern. Toile fabric and pattern paper will be provided. You will also start on final version in your chosen fabric. 
We have planned the workshop so you will get your fit right and may well finish your final garment but due to the differences in our bodies and sewing abilities you may take longer, don't worry, you have the pattern to keep and the support of the team to finish at home or another day. 




What to bring
You will need a medium weight canvas or twill, another choice could be corduroy or denim. You can make the Emerson in a lighter weight fabric but the shape of the trouser will be more fluid.  Requirements for each size are listed in the pictures above.   
If you would like to take advantage of the discounted fabric bundles details can be found in the pictures above.
If your hip and waist measurements fall outside of the range of the printed pattern [over 46'/118cm] let use know and we can make arrangements so you can have access to the other size range.

Day Two: Using the felt fabric prepared in the first session you will make your lampshade. You will have a short while to needle felt or stitch any additional details into your design. Then we will learn how to cut your felt fabric to size, adhere a fire resistant backing and shade rings, to construct your lampshade. Wet Felt Lampshade Workshop - 2 Part Days

Description
In this three hour workshop you will learn a thrifty technique using scraps that would otherwise end up in the bin. We will be creating a cushion with our scraps in this workshop but if you would rather make a series of blocks and create a quilt from your crumb blocks that is fine too!
The block can be bordered and backed with two pieces of fabric to form an envelope cushion. 




What you will learn/achieve
Turn quilt leftovers into fun 12-inch by 12-inch blocks which can be used to make a one of a kind cushion
Learn to include scraps of all sizes from one inch and any shape can be included
We will discuss the merits of sticking to a colour pallet or to embrace the random with a range of colours




What's included
Instructions from Janine and hands on help as you learn.
Use of all the tools you will need during the workshop. 
Use of the Pfaff sewing machines in Stitching Kitchen's fully equipped studio.

A cushion pad to stuff your finished cushion




What to bring
Fabric scraps from your recent quilts or from your stash to make your patchwork blocks. 
You will also need a larger piece of fabric to create the back of the cushion at least 17”x 24” (approximately a fat quarter)
You won’t need to bring anything else with you and you can leave your sewing machine at home. Stitching Kitchen is fully equipped with Pfaff sewing machines and all the quilting tools and sewing kit for use during the workshop.
Stitching Kitchen also stocks a full range of haberdashery and quilting tools if you discover anything you would like to purchase to use at home.

Your tutor is Janine from TheFatQuarter Quilting https://thefatquarter.co.uk Having dabbled at patchwork and quilting when her children were babies, Janine moved on to develop a love for learning everything patchwork and quilting. In recent years she has owned a patchwork and quilting shop, living and breathing patchwork each day. Nowadays Janine is a professional Longarm Quilter and Patchwork Tutor with a love for sharing her wealth of experience.

Claire is passionate about supporting sustainable fashion & clothing.  She believes that we should alter, repair & improve our existing wardrobe items (as well as buying second hand & vintage) instead of purchasing ‘throw away clothing’. Claire is a couture designer, seamstress and stylist with over 28 years of experience in the fashion industry.  She has a degree in Design & Technology from London College of Fashion (2008).
