I work for the British Dyslexia Association and The Dyslexia Association assessing children and adults. I have worked in Special Needs for over 20 years across a wide range of educational settings. I also worked for a Local Education Authority for 14 years assessing and tutoring children with dyslexia. Adult Dyslexia Consulting Ltd was founded by Sally-Ann Morrison with the aim of making assessments for adults more accessible. She has worked in this field for more than 20 years and holds a Masters degree in Adult Dyslexia Diagnosis and Support (ADDS). After completing a degree in Linguistics (York), she worked in adult education and was the Dyslexia Co-ordinator at a large FE college for ten years, simultaneously delivering the Postgraduate Diploma in ADDS for London South Bank University in the North West of England. Following her role as Senior Lecturer on an AMBDA accredited Pg Cert programme, she founded ADC Ltd, and works as an independent SpLD assessor and trainer. The majority of her SpLD assessment work is with FE and HE students, and she also provides specialist tuition and workplace assessment and training. Sally-Ann is a member of the Patoss APC Review team and holds a current Assessment Practising Certificate. All assessments are undertaken under the guidelines issued by the Spld Assessment Standards Committee (SASC). Sally-Ann is fully insured and quality assured. Her mission is to ensure that the assessment process is accessible, meaningful and of direct relevance to the individual so as to provide reassurance, identification of strengths, and suggesting ways forward to ensure equality and the challenging of barriers in both education and the workplace

Vicki is a qualified teacher with over 20 years’ experience in schools, colleges and universities. She worked as a secondary school teacher for a number of years before working with students with additional needs. After several years running programmes for young people and adults in the FE sector, Vicki undertook a Masters in Education, specialising in Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLDs), along with additional training to assess for dyslexia. She is also a qualified SENCO and worked for several years as an Advisory Teacher for the local authority. Vicki currently works part-time in a HE setting assessing and tutoring individuals with specific learning difficulties. Each year she assesses over 80 students for Disabled Students Allowance and continues to offer advice and assessments to a number of local schools. Vicki is the current Chair of the Dorset PATOSS group. Vicki lives in Swanage and relaxes by walking in the Purbeck hills with her dog Poppy, pottering in her tiny garden and acting as roadie to her musical teenage sons. She helps out in the family bookshops whenever she can and has provided training on dyslexia to booksellers from across the UK. MEd. Initially teaching IT, maths and English to a wide range of learners, Alice later trained to specialise in specific learning difficulties where she gained a Masters from the University of Southampton and qualified to both teach and assess individuals with dyslexia and other SpLDs. Alice is a keen advocate of assistive technology and strongly believes that individuals are far more likely to achieve when they are provided with the right tools, enabling them to use existing strengths to overcome challenges. As a current SpLD practitioner and study skills tutor for university students, Alice has plenty of opportunity to develop and maintain her understanding of the challenges that individuals with a SpLD face, and this insight helps inform her work as an assessor. Alice has 2 children and lives in Mudeford. When she’s not working, Alice enjoys paddle boarding and exploring the New Forest either by foot or on her bicycle. My name is Jo Souter and I am an experienced specialist dyslexia teacher and assessor. I am passionate about helping children to unlock their potential! Specialist teacher and assessor Oxfordshire As a teacher and as a mum of 2, I understand that every child is different and that a 'one size fits all' approach doesn't work. As a result my teaching is personalised to each student and draws on their strengths. My philosophy is that if your child doesn't understand something, then it is up to me to teach it differently. Up until having my children, I was a full time class teacher in a primary school. Therefore I understand the demands of teaching a class of 30 children each with differing strengths and difficulties! My skill is in creating a positive learning environment in which your child can thrive. After missing school due to Covid my daughter had sessions with Jo to increase her confidence. It was really inspiring to see her learning and enjoying a more creative & fun way of learning. - Parent of a Year 1 student Over the past 9 years I have worked as a specialist dyslexia teacher and assessor both in schools and privately. In addition to assessing, teaching and supporting individual children, I provide training and guidance for parents, teachers and support staff. Qualifications The field of dyslexia is ever evolving and I am committed to keeping up to date with the latest developments. As an Associate Member of the BDA (AMBDA), my continuing professional development is verified by the BDA every 3 years. I appear on both the BDA and PATOSS registers.
