One day ILS Course. The ILS course is designed for healthcare professionals who would be expected to apply the skills taught as part of their clinical duties.

ILS was launched in 2002 as there was a demand from healthcare professionals to know the skills needed to respond in an emergency. It is now the most popular Resuscitation Council UK course, and around 100,000 people are trained in ILS every year. ILS certification is recognised across the UK, the EU and Australia. During the one-day course, you will develop the skills to: recognise and treat the deteriorating patient using the ABCDE approach; identify the causes and promote the prevention of cardiopulmonary arrest; undertake the skills of quality CPR and defibrillation (manual and /or AED) and simple airway manoeuvres; utilise non-technical skills to facilitate team leadership and effective team membership. Who is the course for? The ILS course is suitable for doctors, medical students, nurses, nursing students, midwives, paramedics and student paramedics, physiotherapists, dentistry professionals and other health and care professionals. It may also be suitable for fire service technicians, police personnel and prison officers. Instructions Pre-course preparation: Candidates will receive their ILS manual two weeks before the start of the course. Candidates are expected to have prepared for the course by reading the manual. All candidates are required to undertake a pre-course MCQ on the RCUK LMS prior to attending the course. e-ALS has been developed using the RCUKs evidence-based Guidelines and decades of experience in delivering effective resuscitation courses for healthcare professionals, and will help build the confidence needed to take the lead in an emergency. During the course, you will develop the knowledge and skills required to: Recognise and manage the deteriorating patient using a structured ABCDE approach; Deliver standardised CPR in adults; Manage a cardiac arrest by working with a multidisciplinary team in an emergency situation; Become an effective and confident team member and leader by utilising non-technical skills. Who is the course for? The e-ALS course is designed for healthcare professionals who need skills in advanced life support as part of their clinical duties, as well as those who teach these skills on a regular basis. This includes doctors, paramedics and nurses working in acute care areas (e.g. ED, CCU, ICU, HDU, operating theatres, acute medical admissions units) or on resuscitation/ medical emergency/ Critical Care Outreach teams. All applicants must hold a professional healthcare qualification or be in training for a professional healthcare qualification. Medical students in their final year of training can be accepted as Candidates if this is an established local arrangement. Instructions Candidates do a day of e-learning followed by a day of face-to-face learning at one of our Course Centres. Pre course preparation: Before the course, you will be registered on the RCUK Learning Management System (LMS). Here, you can access pre-course course modules that will prepare you for your face-to-face session and a pre-course multiple choice question (MCQ) paper. You will receive your course manual one month before the course. Candidates are expected to read the manual in preparation for the course and submit a completed pre-course MCQ paper before the course begins. Programme: As part of your e-learning you will read through modules that cover all core components of the course. These modules will help you learn at your own pace and test your knowledge before attending a face-to-face day where you will develop your practical skills with the help of our Instructors, and participate in cardiac arrest simulations (CASTeach). Refreshments including lunch are included on all RCUK courses with Immerse Medical Due to the expense incurred in running this course there will be no refund for candidates who, for whatever reason do not attend the course, or cancel within six weeks of the course unless a replacement candidate can be found. Immerse Medical are experienced at teaching first aid to young people within the educational sector. We have designed this workshop style programme specifically for those in KS3/4. The sessions are fun, engaging and focus on fundamental life saving skills. Using interactive gamification, students gain hands on experience, which they will draw upon in real life medical emergencies. These sessions are perfect as part of phase 2 of National Citizenship Service (NCS) and Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) Awards. Training by doctors, nurses and paramedics – We have years of experience working on the front line of emergency medicine; giving us real world knowledge and skills in managing injured or unwell people. More than first aid – While participating in this workshop young people will also develop their ability to work as part of team, communicate effectively and think critically in high pressure situations leading to an overall increase in personal confidence. Sessions are designed with age and national curriculum in mind, from 1 hour tasters to sessions for large groups, perfect as part of NCS and Duke of Edinburgh programmes. Our training for young people is fun, engaging and focuses on fundamental life saving skills.  All courses can be delivered at our training centre in Poole, Dorset or we can deliver on-site across Bournemouth, Poole, Dorset, Hampshire and the South of England.
