Needle felting is a joyous craft in which anyone can create 3D animals, birds and anything else your imagination conjures up! You may already be familiar with felting without knowing it – that sinking feeling when you pull your favourite woollen jumper out of the washing machine and it looks like a five year old would struggle to get into it?! When wool is agitated, it sticks together, creating a solid mass. Needle felting mimics that process, but instead of agitating the wool with hot water, you are using a barbed needle – making it possible to make not just 2D but 3D objects. Crafty Gal’s fun workshops are an introduction to the magic of dry needle felting, you will learn the basic techniques to get you started with Hannah guiding you through the process step by step. You will work through the day in a fun and creative environment, leaving with an adorable creation of your choice AND all the skills you need to continue with your needle felting ARTventure at home.

I’m Rosie. I’m located in Leicester and loving life. I’m a fibre artist who specialises in needle felting. I’m also a webdesigner which comes in handy for my online shop. I teach needle felting Workshops in the Leicestershire area and I am also in the process of making online needle felting videos for those looking to learn from the comfort of their home. I love teaching absolute beginners the simplest techniques I’ve learned and adapted over the years, so they can create beautiful birds and animals. A previous passion was fabric doll-making, I loved hand-stitching little dolls and their clothing. It seemed natural to progress into needle felting which achieves a more defined 3D shape without the use of patterns and stitching. I love needle felting and also make anthropomorphic creatures (ascribing human characteristics to nonhuman things). These pieces take me on a magical journey where the only limitation is my imagination. My hope is to be continually learning and teaching this amazing art form.

Needle-felting is a fascinating experience, watching creations taking a life and form of their own as you work. It is a very intuitive and tactile craft. Tools required are few and the materials relatively inexpensive. The work can be picked up and put down at a moment’s notice, and can be carried out almost anywhere. Michelle started teaching the craft eight years ago, holding regular workshops at venues across the country. She has now taught over 2000 people and her book on Needlefelting will be published in January 2024 by Crowood Press. Workshops are held in a very relaxed atmosphere - it’s been said that the laughs are as good as the course!  There are several regular venues all over the country or you can travel to Furzie's Workshop in Somerset or arrange for Furzie to travel to you.

The Mirva Gallery Collective began in May 2017, when a group of twelve artists and makers took over an empty shop for the summer. It was such a success that we ended up staying there until the end of September, and popped back again for December. We now have a permanent at 6 Causewayhead, Penzance and run workshops from Mirva Craftspace, 1 Camelot Court, Penzance.

Welcome - Croeso! I am the designer and creator at Fabulous Feltings, making unique 'wet' felted art - wraps, drapes, throws and wall hangings. I use the softest of merino wool tops which can be fused with luxurious silk threads and vintage fabrics. Each piece is a one-off and I welcome collaborations to make something especially for you and to match your decor. In addition to my finished pieces I hold full-day wet-felting workshops in my riverside studio where you and a few friends can get creative, learn a new skill, relax and go home with beautiful pieces of your own work.
