In 2016, I began offering workshops in my studio, located just outside of Coggeshall and a few miles from Colchester. The converted barn provides a creative and supportive hub where I teach groups of up to twelve. Many of my structured textile workshops are taught across one or two days, but I do provide longer, design oriented textile courses and I mentor several groups on an ongoing basis. As my background is in creative textiles all the workshops I offer both in the studio and as a visiting tutor involve free motion embroidery with a design approach. More recently I have begun to take on other textile tutors and I now can offer a much larger range of textile courses including dressmaking, pattern cutting, felting, modern patchwork & Quilting as well as hand embroidery and decorative textiles. As well as textiles I have expanded the workshop itinerary and now offer illustration, lino printing, fused glass and silver clay jewellery on a regular basis with local, fabulous tutors. I hope that regardless of what experience level you have, you will still find something to suit you. So whether you are a beginner or more advanced in your chosen craft, take a look at the full range of workshops available. If you are unsure as to whether you will be able fully participate in a class, then simply get in touch and I would be happy to advise on what is best for you to do. While the majority of the workshops available through this site are based at my studio, I do travel and teach regularly in other local venues and I am happy to go further a field. This allows me to reach more students and collaborate with others, which is something I love to do. I offer a range of structured one and two day workshops to beginners through to more experienced in machine embroidery. Do get in touch if you are a Guild or textile group to discuss your groups requirements and I am a happy to send you a list of workshops I offer. Back to the studio – the current range of workshops will grow over time and I hope to continue offering a wider variety of subjects so if there is something you are interested in but can’t see listed, get in touch! If I have something in high demand, I will do what I can to arrange a workshop around this.

Our story....When Sarah & Simon met in 2007, Sarah had just renovated her home and Simon had no idea what change of direction was coming his way! A few years on, after the birth of their son, they both recognised that they had more in common than just love!  Their passion for creatively ReUsing everyday items became fun and constant ReThinking anything from a shells to furniture to their most recent project an Upfurbished Lodge ReTreat in Suffolk. With Interior Design experience Sarah started to incorporate ReUsing in her schemes, recognising a “gem” that needed some ReLoving and clients started to offer her pieces to upcycle. Not long after she had her first furniture sale and commissions followed!  And so ReVamp Boutique was born! With basic carpentry skills from school Simon started to adapt some of the pieces under Sarah’s design eye and soon Simon took an interest in the upholstery side making this a formidable creative team. Sarah’s passion is to share some ReVamp secrets, and returning to her teaching experience she  gleaned at a local college, she now runs creative ReUse workshops which are not just sustainable but fun, sociable, excellent for your well being and the best gifts for family, friends and loved ones! The business has now undertaken many commissions, with Simon now an accomplished upholsterer and Sarah a furniture artist seen at Grand Designs and Westfield Stratford & London. The couple now have premises to run their workshops, take commissions and sell their statement furniture as well as their Retreat, the complete ReVamp experience, available for booking now. After gaining a Distinction for her Masters in Textiles at UAL she pursued her love of using leather and created a range of leather bags & accessories. Rosanna also swiftly developed a range of courses and built on her previous career as a Design & Technology teacher to pass on her knowledge to others. Within just 2 years of setting up her business she was commissioned to write the now very popular leather craft book ‘Sew Luxe Leather’ published in 2018. The book comprises of 20 projects complete with step by step instructions, templates and detailed information on tools and suppliers to get students started in the craft.

Specialising in classic interiors with a modern twist, we aim to help create a beautiful space that tells your story. Established in historic Colchester, Simply Living was set up by interior designer Brigitte Fraser. She started her business from her home in 1992, at the same time taking a 4 year degree in Interior Design and Furnishing at the London College of Furnishings. In 2002 Brigitte opened her own shop, Simply Living, in Colchester from where she continued to run her interior design business. Now relocated to our studio in Manor Road, we pride ourselves on our loyal client base ranging from private to commercial who return year after year. We have worked exclusively for Lexden Restorations Ltd, an award-winning developer largely specialising in the restoration of listed buildings, including The Maltings in Manningtree, Sovereign Crescent on the Lexden Road in Colchester, Abbey House in St Johns as well as the Garrison in Colchester.
