Do you love books? Do you love the feel of a new book, the smell of the pages, and the way they look on your shelf? But do you wish that you could create your own books? We have just what you need! Our Bookbinding Workshop is a beginner course that will teach you how to make canvas bound book and even a Japanese bound or journal style book too. We provide all of the materials and full instruction is provided by our expert staff.

Learn the art of simple ink drawings combined with doodles to create beautiful stylized flowers, join us in person on 21st April 2024, at 11:00 AM for a relaxed introduction! Suitable for beginners.

Evancliffe Leathercraft Introduction to Leatherwork - Belt making Workshop

What you'll do Have you ever wanted to create your own unique furniture? During this one day experience you’ll transform a pallet into a one-off piece of furniture for your home. First you'll find out how to source materials and discover the tools and techniques you’ll need to prepare your pallets for upcycling. Once Scott has introduced you to the workshop space, you’ll use a mix of hand and power tools to create your own piece, from a shoe or wine rack to a bird feeder, storage box or even a small bookcase. With your experience host's guidance, you'll leave with your own finished upcycled item. All materials, tools and safety equipment will be provided for you on the day. Dates for 2022: Feb 5,6 March 5,6 April 23,24 June 25,26 Sep 10,11 Oct 29,30 Dec 10,11 Facilities Toilets WiFi Refreshments available Parking COVID-19 guidelines Everyone will need to confirm fitness each day. Everyone will have their temperature taken at the beginning of each day. Hand washing will be compulsory at set times during the courses. Face masks will be compulsory during the specific parts of the course where you will be breathing heavily due to exertion. The remainder of the course we will have face shields available as an option to facemasks. Face shields will be provided. But please bring your own face mask. On the day You don't need any previous woodwork experience, just some enthusiasm! Please wear old clothes (or something that you don’t mind getting damaged or torn) and sensible, closed toe footwear. Work boots are recommended. Tea and coffee will be available throughout the day, but please bring along your own packed lunch. Course Location courses can be either in Glastonbury or at Scott's own workshop near the Bath and West show grounds (BA46QN) and will be confirmed.

Introduction to Goldwork Embroidery class at Fisherton Mills, Salisbury

In this unique course with tutor Sarah Reece you will learn how to cut two shapes of stones: The first will be a free form shape with a flat edges as shown in the images. The second the focus will be how to create a traditional cabochon. This stone will be have a flat base with a rounded top. This will be cut from rough stone which you can each select from Sarahs beautiful collection. You can decide the shape and size and which part of the stone you wish to use. The class size is limited to just 1 student. So you do not breathe in harmful rock dust during the process, you will be cutting the stone while it is in water. With this in mind, please wear older clothes, and waterproof shoes – wellies are advised as it is not a clean or dry activity. Water sprays from the rotating wheels as you are working. We will provide you with a waterproof apron. This course is an excellent introduction to stone cutting. It allows you to step into the world of Lapidary where you can cut and create any shaped stone you desire, you won’t be beholden to the shop bought stone. This means your projects and settings can become completely unique as per your designs. You will be working with a Cab King 6″ and the Diamond Pacific Pixie Cabbing Machine. We support you throughout the session and provide demonstrations to show you the techniques and steps needed to create your project. With one to one sessions, you will gain a large amount of support in this intensive introduction to stone cutting Class size: 1 What is included? All tools and consumables are supplied The stones you will carve are NOT INCLUDED in the price of the course – This is something you can choose on the day so you can select something you would like to work with. Sarah has priced up different varies in generous sizes ranging from £3-£20. If you would rather not buy stone to work with, no problem, Sarah has plenty of beautiful flint that you can use instead. What to bring: For safety reasons, during each class, you are required to wear appropriate footwear, we request that no open toed shoes are worn within the workshop. Wellies or older waterproof shoes advised. Long hair should also be tied back when working with the equipment. You may also wish to bring a notebook. There are always many tips and tricks given verbally by the tutor, which some might like to keep note of. Also pack your own snacks and drinks for the session if required.

Beginners chair caning class

Have you always fancied learning to crochet but never found the time or struggled with online tutorials? Our classes are friendly, relaxed and the perfect place to learn. Tea, coffee and biscuits are always included and BYOB is also encouraged - we’ll supply the glasses! Come along and enjoy the basics of crochet in this beginner course delivered over 5 sessions. Class number is limited to 6. Week 1 - Skill building. Learn chains, rows, turning and double crochet. Begin your 1st project. Week 2 - Learn slip stitch and weaving ends as you finish your project. Introduction to 2 new stitches. Week 3 - Make a Granny Square! Week 4 - Make some flowers and learn how to follow a pattern Week 5 - More pattern reading skills to make your final project. You will learn the most used stitches plus lots of tips to get you started. You will discover how to make granny squares which are the building blocks of many crochet projects including blankets, bags, clothes, even plant pots!
