James Hall is a diligent and creative music professional who is immersed in Musical Theatre. He specialises in musical direction and the teaching of singing and performance techniques. He ensures students maintain their individuality, creative musicality and performance integrity.   As a singing teacher James specialises in musical theatre, incorporating the Estill model in his teaching. As well as leading workshops and group singing classes James teaches privately offering lessons for adults and children; both professional and amateur. As well as fundamental singing technique James also focuses on interpretation and acting through song to enhance the performance of songs for all styles. Some pupils take singing and music theatre exams maintaining a 100% pass rate. James offers assistance with audition preparation and applications for vocational colleges and professional courses. Previous pupils have gone onto study at Arts Educational School, Mountview, Guildford School of Acting, London Studio Centre, ALRA, The Urdang Academy, Italia Conti, The Oxford School of Drama, The Brit School, University of Chichester and others have gone on to perform professionally around the country and in West End shows.     James’ skills as a singing teacher coincide with his work as a freelance musical director. James’ skills and experience as a MD include accompanying rehearsals, sight reading (especially for auditions), leading vocal warm ups and workshops, playing keys in orchestra pits, conducting ensembles, Keyboard and Mainstage programming, creating arrangements and composing award winning music. I also provide lessons for clients who purely just love singing, there's no judgment or pressure to do anything just turn up and have fun singing with live piano accompaniment; any style, completely flexible and up to the individual. Worcestershire Youth Musical Theatre is an innovative musical theatre education through experiential learning with excellent performance opportunities in Worcestershire Theatres. Wymsical Theatre began its life in 2016 with the aim of providing more solo and duet opportunities than the average youth theatre by presenting regular revue shows focussing on two contrasting composers/genres. Originally based at the Worcester Arts Workshop, when the workshop sadly closed in 2020, Wymsical found a new home for rehearsals at Powick Parish Hall. An exciting development from 2020 is that our Wymsicals now have new homes for performance and will be performed in various small local theatres including The Rose Theatre, Kidderminster and The Norbury Theatre, Droitwich. With three age specific groups ranging from 6-20, our talented team of directors and tutors raise gifted performers, adroit in combining the triple skills of acting, singing and dancing. Whilst not formal "grade" style training, these sessions aim to provide a mixture of core skill workshops and experiential learning through regular musical revues- "Wymsicals" and regular book musicals.

Welcome to Laine Theatre Arts At this very sad time the Laine Theatre Arts’ community is moved by the passing of Queen Elizabeth II. From a time when schoolchildren still wrote on slates to an era of tablets and mobile phones, Queen Elizabeth served the country and the commonwealth during a time of momentous change throughout the world. The late Queen’s spirit and sense of duty embodied courage, strength and perseverance and served as an example to us all. The college community deeply mourns her passing.
