This course is for people who are often the first to respond to a possible medical emergency. This encompasses Police, Firefighters, and medical staff at festivals and events. It also includes Emergency/Community First Responders, Door Supervisors, Close Protection Operatives, and Security Guards. Individuals working in high-risk environments are also catered for. These environments include the military, power stations, agriculture, and manufacturing facilities.

This is a certified course that teaches CPR, AED, First Aid for Adult, Child, and Infant. This course does not include bleeding control.

ILS was launched in 2002 as there was a demand from healthcare professionals to know the skills needed to respond in an emergency. It is now the most popular Resuscitation Council UK course, and around 100,000 people are trained in ILS every year. ILS certification is recognised across the UK, the EU and Australia. During the one-day course, you will develop the skills to: recognise and treat the deteriorating patient using the ABCDE approach; identify the causes and promote the prevention of cardiopulmonary arrest; undertake the skills of quality CPR and defibrillation (manual and /or AED) and simple airway manoeuvres; utilise non-technical skills to facilitate team leadership and effective team membership. Who is the course for? The ILS course is suitable for doctors, medical students, nurses, nursing students, midwives, paramedics and student paramedics, physiotherapists, dentistry professionals and other health and care professionals. It may also be suitable for fire service technicians, police personnel and prison officers. Instructions Pre-course preparation: Candidates will receive their ILS manual two weeks before the start of the course. Candidates are expected to have prepared for the course by reading the manual. All candidates are required to undertake a pre-course MCQ on the RCUK LMS prior to attending the course. Recent changes to Forestry Commission policy recommend those who work in the Forestry industry attend training which includes additional topics relevant to the risks and nature or their work. The Forestry Commission recommend topics including: Crush Injuries Catastrophic bleeding including chainsaw including chainsaw injuries and gun shot wounds Hypothermia / Exposure Suspension injuries Lyme's Disease Lightning & High Voltage injuries Casualty evacuation planning These are in addition to the normal Emergency First Aid criteria. Who Should Attend? This course is ideal for those who work or intend to work in a forestry, agricultural or remote environment, such as tree surgeons and farmers. The Highfield's Level 3 Emergency First Aid at Work Course meets the requirements of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981, that all organisations must have adequate first aid provision. This 1 day course is suitable for smaller, low risk organisations who feel that the syllabus listed below meets the type of injuries common in your workplace and industry. This CPD course meets the criteria for the General Dental Council’s development outcomes C. This course includes medical emergencies as set out by the GDC in the dental practice. Immediate Life Support (ILS) Level 3 (VTQ) course is designed to meet the requirements of ILS courses laid down by UK Resus Council guidelines and is certified by ProTrainings. This CPD course meets the criteria for the General Dental Council’s development outcomes C. This course includes medical emergencies as set out by the GDC in the dental practice. This course includes the latest CPR and Coronavirus recommendations. The aim is to train healthcare personnel in cardiopulmonary resuscitation, simple airway management and safe defibrillation by enabling them to manage patients in cardiac arrest until the arrival of a cardiac arrest team and to participate as members of that team. The course is run over one day and consists of lectures and practical sessions. The course looks at how to identify the causes and promote the prevention of cardiopulmonary arrest. Recognise and treat the deteriorating patient using the ABCDE approach and undertake the skills of quality CPR and defibrillation. It also covers simple airway manoeuvres and utilises non-technical skills to facilitate initial leadership and effective team membership.
