UNDERSTAND TO TO WORK WITH AND MANIPULATE LEATHER TO CONSTRUCT REFINED LEATHER GOODS This is the second module of a series designed to provide thorough, professional training in leatherworking and accessory making. Each module has been carefully designed to equip individuals with key skills for starting a career in this sector, broadening their industry knowledge, or embarking on their own journey with solid foundational skills. During this lesson, you will learn how to manipulate leather to create specific shapes, constructions, and finishing types. You will work with different kinds of leather, tools, and reinforcements to achieve specific volumes, shapes, and structures. You will gain an understanding of the technical aspects of finishing edges, such as folding, burnishing, inking, creasing, and more. This module covers some of the most challenging aspects of working with leather and provides you with a strong foundation for making informed choices in developing your projects. You will also receive valuable handouts, curated lists of leather and tool suppliers for ongoing reference, and create personalised samples for your own reference. Lee Furniture offer a beginners course in Box Making. The tuition is one on one. This course is for the beginner interested in making furniture.  Throughout the day we will make a box (see images) in solid Oak/Ash (Timber dependant on stock) There is an option to upgrade the box to Walnut timber during the course!! The course is hands on and will be based around using tools and machinery to plane and join for your box, use of hand tools to include the correct use of: Marking out tools Planes Chisels Scrapers Power tools There will be demonstrations throughout the day including chisel sharpening, planing and cutting wood. Unlike courses of this type elsewhere, this is a making course, not just assembling pre-cut planed components, you will plane from scratch sawmill-provided timber.  At the end of the day you will have achieved the making of a solid oak box, and learned some of the techniques used in cabinet making. The Box is finished with modern style hinges and a oil/wax finish.. What's included in the price? Wood is included in the course for practising your new skills.  Tea and coffee included for the day. This set of 6 morning workshops (over 6 weeks) is designed to allow you the opportunity to explore a wide range of techniques to create beautifully unique fused glass jewellery & decorative objects. After a brief introduction to the historical context and language of fused glass you will be guided through using techniques such as scoring, cutting £0& layering sheet & accessory glass, adding mica or oxide powders to create sparkle and bubbles, use of kiln carving to create subtle textures, using inclusions of wire & precious metal foils and painting or stencilling with 'glassline' paints etc. you will create at least 2 pieces per session and these will be fired and ready to add finishing touches on the subsequent session ( pieces made during the final date will be fired & finished and ready for collection after 7 days) we will mainly focus on jewellery but larger items can be made eg. Come along and join in the festive spirit. In this workshop you will be making a selection of willow and rush Xmas tree decorations. Including reindeer..add a red nose, Xmas trees...add a little tinsel snow to the top and a 10" rush angel for the top of your tree, plus stars, and mini wreath hoops. Festive snacks and a glass of mulled wine included. Please choose from the morning or afternoon session. 9.30am-12.30pm 1.30pm-4.30pm
