The course covers investigation and risk assessment of asbestos-contaminated soils and sites, including waste classification and land remediation. The course is suitable for those employees who may need more information regarding fire safety due to the nature of their roles. It is also a requirement under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 that all key employees should receive training in what to do in the event of fire.

P402 Surveying and sampling strategies for asbestos in buildings is the industry standard qualification for asbestos surveyors. In addition to holding the qualification, asbestos surveyors are required to undertake and provide evidence of annual refresher training. Previously, BOHS provided two Refresher courses for this purpose: P402RM (Management) and P402RRD (Refurbishment and Demolition). This new course, RP402 Refresher - Surveying and Sampling Strategies for Asbestos in Buildings, replaces P402RM and P402RRD. RP402 Refresher enables candidates to revise and update their knowledge on all types of asbestos surveys, and to receive a certificate of course completion by passing a written examination, which covers both the theory and practice of surveying for asbestos in buildings.

REFERENCE CODE 603/2369/3 COURSE LEVEL NVQ Level 2 THIS COURSE IS AVAILABLE IN Course Overview This qualification is aimed at those who have responsibility for sorting, storing and removing non-hazardous wastes related to Construction work. Examples of the types of non-hazardous wastes covered by this qualification include rubble, timber, metal, cardboard or paper, plastics, fabrics and glass. All work must be completed following Industry recognized Safe Working Practices and in accordance with relevant legislation. This qualification is at Level 2, although some units may be at different levels and should be taken by those who are fully trained to deal with routine assignments. Because of the wide range of Construction related maintenance work it is not expected that all candidates will carry out the same activities; the qualification is structured to ensure that there is a high degree of flexibility within the units available. REFERENCE CODE 601/8330/5 COURSE LEVEL NVQ Level 2 THIS COURSE IS AVAILABLE IN Course Overview This qualification is aimed at those who are involved in installing roof sheeting and cladding systems and associated tasks on site working from drawings and specifications. It is not expected that candidates working in this industry all do the same activities or use the same equipment and machinery so there is a group of optional units to cover these matters, however all candidates will need to prove competence in preparing the resources required, installation of sheeting and cladding systems and rainwater goods (gutters, pipes, downpipes and angles (swan necks, off sets), brackets and supports, sumps, overflows and outlets). All work completed must be carried out in accordance with Building Regulations and Industry recognised safe working practices, including the disposal of waste. The qualification is structured to ensure that there is a high degree of flexibility within the units available and will allow employees from companies of all sizes and specialisms equal opportunity to complete. To provide this opportunity in addition to the core skills above, candidates will also be able to select optional units recognising skills including, repair and/or refurbishment of roof sheeting/cladding/rainscreen systems, working with boom and/or scissor type mobile elevating platforms (MEWPs), installing solar collectors, use of ergonomic manipulating machines or slinging/signalling the movement of loads.

This qualification is aimed those who carry out supervisory activities in a specific trade in the Construction Industry. The qualification certificate will carry an endorsement to show what trades the candidate was supervising during completion of this qualification. The qualification has a core group of 5 mandatory units that cover areas including Health and Safety, confirming work requirements and coordinating work operations. The qualification also has a group of optional units to allow flexibility to suit individual needs and responsibilities and completion of mandatory units and a minimum of 2 units from the optional group will give access to the relevant CSCS card. This qualification replaces version 1 of the GQA Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Occupational Work Supervision (Construction) QAN 601/3469/0 for anyone starting the qualification from 01/11/2019. What is required from candidates? This qualification consists of 5 mandatory units, which have a total of 57 credits and a group of optional units. Candidates must complete all 5 mandatory units and a minimum of 2 units from the optional group. GQA qualifications are made up of units that have a credit value or credits. These credits must be achieved in the correct combination of mandatory and optional units. Qualifications are now required to indicate the total qualification time (TQT), this is to show the typical time it will take someone to attain the required skills and knowledge to meet the qualification criteria. The units of assessment set out learning outcomes which describe what learners need to be able to do and understand. The learning outcomes are defined by assessment criteria which are used to assess competence, expressed as skills achieved and learned knowledge and understanding, to achieve the units.
