The Grafton Academy of Fashion Design was founded in 1938 by Pauline Elizabeth Keller Clotworthy. Born in 1912, Pauline was brought up in a large house in Glenageary, with several generations of family around her. Pauline showed a keen interest in sketching and writing and went on to study at Dublin's Metropolitan School of Art (now the National College of Art and Design). It was there that one of Pauline's tutors, artist Seán Keating cautioned her on turning her life drawing into fashion illustrations, this only encouraged Pauline who then went on to study the art of representing fabrics and textures using watercolour in Browns Paris School of Fashion in London. Upon her return to Dublin, Pauline was advised to further educate herself on how to realise her fashion drawings. Pauline returned to London to train at the British institute of Dress Designing. Pauline, understanding that she had benefited from an education that was not available in Ireland, decided she wanted to share the skills she had acquired. Shortly after graduating in 1938, Pauline established the Grafton Academy, Ireland's first design school and within a year it had staged its debut show. Early graduates from the college include Neilli Mulcahy, Ib Jorgensen and Clodagh Phillips, all of whom made a significant contribution in promoting Irish fashion culture, both home and abroad.

I'm inspired by the natural and the man(chester) made, and passionate about encouraging others to explore and express their creativity. I LOVE running workshops and sharing the joy of stitching and creating with others. I want people to leave a Hoop & Fred workshop feeling better than when they walked in and empowered to create. Maybe they’ll fall head over heels with embroidery as I did, or perhaps they will simply feel better for having spent a couple of hours trying their hand at something arty and leave feeling confident enough to try other new things.  All my workshops are suitable for beginners. I  ensure everyone gets the time they need to ask questions, and they leave with all the materials and knowledge required to finish their project at home.

I trained in 2010 for my 200 hours Hot Hatha Yoga teaching qualification with Yoga Haven & 2015 with Lushtums for my Pre, Post and Antenatal Education qualifications. I began teaching yoga in 2015. I offer bespoke and tailored classes, workshop & retreats to suit your needs, whether you are a new or established yogi / yogini. Classes are fun, friendly, relaxing and a safe space place for you to practice. I am passionate about sharing the traditional philosophy of Yoga, taking you on a journey through breath work, meditation, mindfulness, relaxation, basic pose, alignment and more challenging postures through creative sequencing. Pranayama (breath work) & asana’s (postures) will help to detoxify and remove any stale, stagnant energy, whilst we focus on connecting with our inner being, leaving you feeling energised and happy from the inside. Yoga asana is only a small part of our practice, the holistic therapeutics are unique to each individual and I am passionate about nurturing people and creating communities through my classes.
