Target Audience This course is for people who are either neurodivergent or working with neurodivergent colleagues. It will help you work more effectively by understanding the needs and recognising the strengths of neurodivergence. This will help you develop strategies to support performance and enhance wellbeing in the workplace. Duration 1 Day Course Overview This course is designed for teams with neurodivergent professionals who want to better navigate work environments, build on their strengths, and manage friction in everyday tasks. Through practical tools, reflection, and real-life strategies, you'll gain greater clarity and confidence in how you work best — and how to advocate for what you need to thrive. Participants will explore a range of neurodivergent profiles and learn how to adapt communication, adjust workflows, reduce workplace triggers, and advocate for a fairer and more inclusive culture. Trauma Informed Practice in Education is a research evidence based whole school systems approach that starts with you. Improved attendance, improved learning outcomes, reduced suspensions and exclusions and better staff recruitment, retention and wellbeing all begin from a place of understanding child development, the impact of adversity on child development and the role of us as educators in supporting opportunities for growth and resilience. Systems change takes teamwork, however the most important member of that team is you. On this Trauma Informed Practice Day you will learn the why and how to keep you well and resourced in order to support the emotional and academic progress of the children in your school. You may already have some knowledge or you may be coming as a complete novice. Either and anything in between is fine. Numbers are limited to keep the group small for the benefit of more enriched learning. On this practice day you will; • Take a deep learning dive into the nervous system and how this applies to you, your setting and the progress of your learners. • Learn practical skills and strategies to support yourself and others. • Have opportunities to discuss children you are working with through small group supervision sessions • Benefit from a day of immersion into the topic with two highly qualified and experienced practitioners.

This full day workshop is designed to follow on and build on the learning from the 1-hour webinar to provide an embedded learning experience leading to acceptance and change of culture around neurodiversity. Won BBC Best Band with Badbone & Co, 2006. Trombonist of the Year, British Jazz Awards and Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Awards, 2007. X2 nominated in the 2008 Parliamentary Jazz Awards: Musician of the Year and Jazz Education, winning the latter category. JazzYorkshire Award Best Band for his band Velocity Trio, 2012. British Trombone Society (BTS) Player of the year Award, 2013. Honorary Fellowship from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, 2022. With over 40 years in the field, working across the UK and internationally. Colin is known for his passion for promoting the inclusion of all children in mainstream schools, and for his practical applied work around person-centred planning, restorative justice and in-depth problem-solving. His work has inspired a shift toward inclusive practices across the UK, as he brings both experience and innovative thinking to the world of education.  Colin says: ‘Instinctively from an early age I was against children being sent away to boarding schools and later to special schools and settings.
