Tour start from St Giles Cathedral or your hotel and last approx 3 hours ​This photo tour usually starts in Edinb8rgh Old Town but as it is a private tour this can be adjusted to suit your needs. It starts off by instructing you how to get the best out of your camera if you require this (and skipping it if you don't) and then the emphasis is on capturing stunning photographs of Edinburgh rather than the usual tourist snaps that most people will capture. You really get to see Edinburgh in a different way and with the help and advice of Will who has worked as press photographer, covered humanitarian crises in Iraq, shot covers and content for Lonely Planet guidebooks, covered Fashion week for many years but now concentrates on teaching from his vast skill set. ​If you prefer the tour to take place in the New Town, Dean Village etc we can do that too. We want you to see the best of Edinburgh, hear some amazing stories about our city and leave with great photos regardless of your skill level before your tour or the equipment you use. We will teach you how to get the best out of your camera or smart phone, explain everything in easy to understand language and help you "see" how to get a great photo.​ * We welcome people of all levels and have catered for absolute beginners to professionals. * As well as photography, you'll learn the background to the places we visit and the stories behind Edinburgh's colourful characters past and present. * We'll recommend places to eat/drink and other things to do in town to avoid the usual tourist traps. * We don't mind if you use a smart phone, compact camera or DSLR, we'll help you get amazing photos using anything. *We keep it simple, understandable and in no time you'll be getting photos you love. *Why choose us? It's free and it an amazing editing tool. * Please make sure your batteries are fully charged and have spare batteries with you. * Please make sure you have space on your memory card/device. As phone and tablet cameras continue to improve and App developments become more advanced, mobile photography – previously considered only suitable for quick snaps and throwaway selfies – is more and more becoming recognised as a legitimate photographic medium. And anyone with a phone or tablet can do it! This course will explore the concepts of digital camera photography (and all that it entails) but through the medium of your own mobile device. Through a mixture of discussion and practical work this course will help you to push the limits of what your phone camera can do. As well as exploring the creative side of photography, we’ll break down some of the technical elements to get a better understanding of photography in general and learn how to achieve similar results using your phone or tablet. We’ll explore useful Apps to help get the desired output from your device and spend time looking at postproduction techniques that can improve and enhance your camera photos beyond a casual snapshot. Some of the Apps we will be looking at include Slow Shutter (iOS), VSCO (iOS/Android), Snapseed (iOS/Android), Adobe Lightroom for Mobile (iOS/Android) and Manual Camera (Android). You do not need to have all these downloaded in advance and, please be aware that depending on the capabilities of your phone, some of the features of these apps may not be available to you. This course is suitable for beginners and requires very little technical knowledge – just an enthusiasm and interest in photography and how to get a little more from your device. Please bring comfy weather-appropriate clothing as there will be some time spent outside shooting. Please specify the Make and Model of your mobile device when booking, so that the tutor can provide specific information tailored to your device wherever possible   Courses are subject to minimum enrolment. Please register early, within five days of the start date, to reduce the likelihood of course cancellation. Reclaiming Regulation is a series of individual, in-person workshops for women who are seeking to explore nervous system regulation, somatic awareness, and embodied wellbeing. These 90 minute workshops offer accessible, practical tools to support emotional balance, reduce overwhelm, manage nervous system regulation and develop a deeper connection with the body. Each session is a stand alone experience that blends nervous system theory with somatic practices, breathwork, and grounding practices. The workshops are inclusive, trauma informed, and accessible to all levels, including complete beginners. Would you like to add a persona touch to your old coat? Change a look of your favourite cardigan? Wearing a customised, handmade brooch could completely change your look so why not to join us for a 2-hour brooch making workshop, where you will learn very basic stitching and working with various upcycled fabrics including felt, tweed and tartan scraps. If you prefer to use your own materials or have some pieces of sentimental value you would like to use, you are more than welcome to bring them along. During this workshop, we will also touch on the theory of colours and how they can affect and change our moods. This workshop is led by Anna Baran, a trauma informed designer, artist, and maker based in the north of Edinburgh. She has always drawn inspiration from the sea, with her walks to local beaches, particularly Wardie Bay during the lockdown, becoming not only a source of new ideas for her artistic practice but also a way to gather materials such as driftwood, pieces of plastic ropes, and seashells. Anna has consistently sought to incorporate upcycled materials into her art, using her work to raise environmental awareness and promote art as an accessible medium for self-expression, regardless of financial circumstances. In addition to participating in various art exhibitions and fashion-related events, she has delivered a wide range of art and craft workshops to diverse communities across Edinburgh.
