If you love music, you'll love learning to play - it really is great fun and not nearly so difficult as you might imagine. By having it explained patiently and clearly at a pace to suit you and by playing songs and tunes that excite and inspire you, you will build up confidence, expertise and a personal repertoire in no time.
Whether starting from scratch or beginning again as an adult after regretting giving up at an earlier age (a most common scenario!), I'm confident you will find what you need here to have a most satisfying hobby or interest that can be done at any age and at any time.
Lessons
All lessons are taught in a pupose built room with two acoustic pianos - a Weber baby grand and a Yamaha upright - with several home keyboards, workstations and synthesisers also available to choose from.
There is a massive library of music available covering all genres and styles - if James doesn't have it, most pieces can quickly be sourced online and all photocopied sheet music supplied is included in the price of the lesson.
Lessons cost £13.50 per half hour and £22 per hour
About James...
As well as being classically trained, James has had the added advantageof being a live performer and has gigged professionally since his teens both in piano bars and as a keyboard/synth player in various bands. This experience gives him a different dimension to his teaching and an advantage over the average school music teacher.
Incorporating the best of both worlds into his teaching style - the strict reading discipline of classical with the freedom of improvisation and the less heavy approach to playing commercial music - makes James the perfect teacher for all ages and styles.
"I firmly believe in teaching to suit the individual persons needs and abilities. I've learned from experience not everyone wants to be Mozart - most people just love music and want to have fun playing their favourite songs and tunes. Of course there has to be a sensible commitment to daily practice, but depending on level & ability, steady progress for most beginners can be achieved with 20-30 minutes each day"
