You&rsquo;ll have the opportunity to create a two-layer print with one colour layer, and one where we apply metal leaf to your design. Although no previous knowledge is assumed, you will get more from this workshop if you have attended one of our&nbsp;beginner or intermediate level screen printing workshops, or have&nbsp;previous experience of screen printing.</p><p fr-original-style="" style="color: var(--text); font-size: var(--font-size); box-sizing: border-box;">You&rsquo;ll learn to create designs for screen printing;&nbsp;transfer your designs to a screen and print onto printmaking paper; and&nbsp;how to register your prints so they print in the same place every time. In this advanced level screen printing workshop you will learn to coat, expose, print and clean silk screens. On this newly extended 3 hour sketching tour, Mark will guide you around some of his favourite, nearby Georgian New Town sketching spots, picking out details in architecture and nature that will help describe the techniques he has picked up over a decade of sketching around Edinburgh.

Our taster and introductory workshops focus on teaching creative skills and methods you can continue practising at home, using affordable materials and equipment. Where more expensive equipment is required we will mention this in the workshop description.

Light refreshments from local suppliers are provided. On full day workshops you are welcome to bring your own lunch to eat inside or out. There is also a wide range of independent sit-in or takeaway delis, cafés, and restaurants, plus a range of supermarkets all within a 5-10 minute walk.
Accessibility
The workshop space is on the first-floor of our Georgian mews home and unfortunately we do not have lift access. Blue badge holders can park outside our front door on the single yellow line by arrangement.
Allergies
The workshop space is in our open plan living space and is not nut free. Please let us know about any skin or food allergies before booking. We offer a dairy-free milk and gluten free snack alternative.
Minimum number no refund policy
To ensure we can always pay our creatives a fair fee, we require a minimum number of bookings for each workshop and for this reason bookings are non-refundable. Should we have to cancel due to low numbers, we will offer you the option to swap to an alternative date or workshop, or to request a refund.
We do our very best to avoid cancellations. Since we often get late bookings, we keep our workshops on sale for as long as possible. We realise that some of you travel from afar, so if you book a space and have not yet received an email confirming your workshop is going ahead and need to make plans for your trip, please get in touch before booking any travel or accommodation so we can update you on booking numbers. <p fr-original-style="" style="color: var(--text); font-size: var(--font-size); box-sizing: border-box;">On this, 3 hour or 5 hour introduction to macram&eacute; workshop with Edinburgh artist Lucy Wayman, you get the opportunity to work on longer projects.&nbsp;</p><p fr-original-style="" style="color: var(--text); font-size: var(--font-size); box-sizing: border-box;">You can choose to create a plant or pot hanger, or stay on to work on a more larger macram&eacute; project, such as a double plant hanger, wall hanging or bag.&nbsp;</p>
<p fr-original-style="" style="color: var(--text); font-size: var(--font-size); box-sizing: border-box;">The workshop will start with the basic principles and techniques of macram&eacute;, allowing you to build your confidence by creating small projects such as a key ring, before moving on to designing and creating your plant hanger, bespoke wall hanging, or bag.</p>
<p fr-original-style="" style="color: var(--text); font-size: var(--font-size); box-sizing: border-box;">Once you feel more confident, you will learn how to calculate rope lengths and plan designs to create your chosen hand-crafted macram&eacute; project&nbsp;using 100% cotton rope and a selection of coloured twines. A helpful instruction manual will be provided to guide you through your project.</p><p fr-original-style="" style="color: var(--text); font-size: var(--font-size); box-sizing: border-box;">If you opt for the plant hanger project your workshop will finish after 3 hours. The longer wall hanging and bag projects last for an extra 2 hours, i.e. a 5 hour workshop.</p>

Whether you’re looking to craft a stylish plant hanger in just three hours or extend your session to five hours to create a wall hanging or a trendy macrame bag, this workshop is designed to suit your pace and style.

Minimum number no refund policy
To ensure we can always pay our creatives a fair fee, we require a minimum number of bookings for each workshop and for this reason bookings are non-refundable. Make a gorgeous mosaic mirror with local maker Jacky Cox from Mossy Mosaic. 

You will learn how to safely cut reclaimed china using a wheeled nipper. 

Applying a 'crazy paving' method you'll form your pieces into a creation to be proud of! 

There will be lots of lovely china for you to choose from, or you can bring your own special (perhaps broken) cups, saucers or plates to use in your mirror design. 

Jacky will guide you through every stage of the process, including how to grout your finished piece. 

If you have previously attended one of Jacky's workshops and are confident using a wheeled nipper you may decide to be more adventurous in your cutting technique: additional guidance will be provided for anyone at an intermediate level.

If you have ever wanted to explore sketchbook journalling, this exclusive new workshop with the Edinburgh Sketcher is the perfect place to start.
On this 3.5 hour workshop, artist Mark Kirkham - known locally as the Edinburgh Sketcher - will show you how to capture what you see quickly and lift your sketches off the page using a little watercolour, and share why sketchbook journalling has become such an important part of his day-to-day life.
You will explore how words can be used as decoration, and add depth to your drawing. 
Sketching items from still life, you will learn how to choose what to include; and how to link your sketches together using colour and composition. 
Starting with a new sketchbook, Mark will help you overcome any fears you have of facing the blank page, and build your confidence with mark making. 
Using the tips and techniques you learn on the day, you will leave ready to continue your sketchbook journalling at home.
This workshop will be held indoors in our welcoming and supportive environment in Edinburgh's City Centre New Town.
The price includes locally-sourced Shibui teas and Mr Eion coffee, a wee snack, and all the materials you need to get started.

Create your own silver rings: a full-day jewellery workshop.
You’ll be guided by Anna Campbell, one of the UK’s leading metal clay instructors, in this inspiring one-day workshop. Designed for those who have completed a beginner’s course or have some experience working with metal clay, this intermediate-level class will take your jewellery-making skills to the next level. 
Over the course of the day, you’ll craft two beautiful silver rings, each showcasing different techniques. This hands-on workshop will provide you with expert guidance as you explore new ways to create and refine your designs in silver clay.
Here’s what you’ll create and learn:
Flat band ring. Start by making a classic flat band ring, which is sleek and flat all the way around. This project will introduce you to essential ring-making techniques, including how to size your ring for a perfect fit and work with silver clay to shape and refine your design. You will be able to texture and embellish this ring to make it unique to you.
D Profile ring. Next, you’ll craft a D profile ring - a design that is flat on the inside and elegantly rounded on the outside. This sophisticated style will allow you to explore more advanced techniques and develop your skills in shaping and finishing.

Make two silver clay rings on this one day intermediate workshop in Edinburgh City Centre.

Designed for those who have completed a beginner’s course or have some experience working with metal clay, this intermediate-level class offers expert guidance, hands-on learning, and plenty of insider tips from Anna Campbell, one of the UK’s leading metal clay instructors.
What is silver metal clay?
Silver clay is a material manufactured from 100% recycled silver, a plant-based organic binder and water. The silver is recycled from X-rays, the photographic industry, electronics etc. It can be moulded and shaped like clay. Once dry, it can be fired and that is when the alchemy happens - the clay turns to solid hallmark quality silver. You don’t need a lot of tools and equipment to get started and all pieces made on this workshop can be fired with a crème brûlée torch.
On this workshop, you’ll design and create two pieces of silver jewellery:
Shadow box pendant. Dive into the world of dimensional design as you craft a beautiful shadow box pendant. You’ll learn how to build depth and structure into your jewellery, creating a piece that’s both eye-catching and full of personal meaning.

The Arienas Collective workshops, courses and events are run from a welcoming and supportive environment within a Georgian mews home in Edinburgh’s City Centre New Town. We invite you to join us, leave any day-to-day worries behind and immerse yourself in being creative.

Our taster and introductory workshops focus on teaching creative skills and methods you can continue practising at home, using affordable materials and equipment. Where more expensive equipment is required we will mention this in the workshop description.
All the equipment and materials you need are included in the price, unless stated otherwise. 
Light refreshments from local suppliers are provided. On full day workshops you are welcome to bring your own lunch to eat inside or out. There is also a wide range of independent sit-in or takeaway delis, cafés, and restaurants, plus a range of supermarkets all within a 5-10 minute walk.
Accessibility
The workshop space is on the first-floor of our Georgian mews home and unfortunately we do not have lift access. Blue badge holders can park outside our front door on the single yellow line by arrangement.
Allergies
The workshop space is in our open plan living space and is not nut free. Please let us know about any skin or food allergies before booking. We offer a dairy-free milk and gluten free snack alternative.
Minimum number no refund policy
To ensure we can always pay our creatives a fair fee, we require a minimum number of bookings for each workshop and for this reason bookings are non-refundable. Should we have to cancel due to low numbers, we will offer you the option to swap to an alternative date or workshop, or to request a refund.
We do our very best to avoid cancellations. Since we often get late bookings, we keep our workshops on sale for as long as possible. We realise that some of you travel from afar, so if you book a space and have not yet received an email confirming your workshop is going ahead and need to make plans for your trip, please get in touch before booking any travel or accommodation so we can update you on booking numbers. Or check in before booking.
