Kuk Sool Won is a systematic study of all of the traditional fighting arts, which together comprise the martial arts history of Korea. As such, Kuk Sool Won is extremely well organised and seeks to explore all aspects of the traditional Korean martial arts. As a martial arts system, Kuk Sool Won covers the entire spectrum of established Asian fighting arts and body conditioning techniques, as well as mental development and traditional weapons training. Last year over 34,000 visits were made to the venue that ‘floats like a bright bubble behind the Muirhouse shopping centre‘ (STV Local) Over 30 hours of creative workshops are on offer each week, most with a family focus, alongside a wide range of other events including exhibitions, dance shows, circus skills workshops, community theatre and film clubs. The venue is also home to Muirhouse Link Up and Tinderbox Collective all connecting creatively with children, families and adults of all ages living across the area.

Training with the Oriental Martial Arts Society will not only get you fit through training but, you will learn to develop internally as well as externally. I teach techniques from Bagua, Hsing I and Wudang. Each of these styles have important parts to play in developing body and mind making you a stronger person - good tools to draw on in any situation life may throw at you both physically and mentally. Although based in traditional roots, these have been adapted for a modern approach. Adult classes are open to men and women from 18 years. Classes are being held at Newtongrange Leisure Centre on Saturdays 11am to 12.30pm and on Wednesdays at St Leonards Church Hall, Bonnyrigg 6.45pm to 8.15pm. Class fee is £10 per session. Join and see what potential you could personally achieve. You don't have to be fit to join - this comes naturally through training rather than a rigid exercise regime. If you want to be able to look after yourself, this is for you.
