We will the join the blocks and create a quilt using a quilt as you go method. &nbsp;You can create your quilt with co-ordinated fabrics or else you can go for a scrappy quilt. &nbsp;If you prefer, materials can be provided.

If you have a machine and would like some help getting to know your machine, I am now offering one to one sessions in the studio.
They will include: A 2 hour one to one session to cover getting to know your machine, threading, filling bobbins, changing needles, cleaning, experimenting with stitches, stitch length etc and to make a simple tote bag with French Seams and Top Stitching to put into practice, some of the techniques. 
All materials provided ready cut. Just bring your machine with the accessories and instruction booklet.

In this class, we will cover raw edge appliqué, sewing a flange and quilting. 
You can choose to create a wall hanging or a cushion cover. If you decide to create a cushion cover, you will also learn how to insert a zip. You will see that zips do not have to be scary. We will also cover top stitching and binding.
All materials are provided

'You Touched My Heart' Appliqué class is a great introduction to raw edge appliqué, quilting, adding a flange and top stitching.  For the cushion, you'll be adding a zip.  This doesn't have to be scary

On this evening class you will have the opportunity to make a piece of jewellery from silver clay. Silver clay is relatively new to the world of jewellery making, introduced by Mitsubishi in the early 90&rsquo;s. It is made from tiny particles of reclaimed and recycled silver which are mixed with a non toxic organic binder.
The clay can be rolled, textured, moulded and carved. During firing, the binder burns away and the silver particles sinter so you are left with a beautiful piece of solid silver. There are so many possibilities to create some beautiful jewellery.
In your class you will learn some of the basic techniques needed to create silver clay jewellery and shown how to use the required tools in the workshop.
- Designed for beginners - you need no previous experience or skill!
- Small class numbers so you get plenty of tutor time (5 people max).
- The class starts at 6pm and ends at 9pm.
- Most people make a pair of earrings or a pendant.
- Materials included - see more below.
- The Jewellery Business is located in Sheffield City Centre and is a fully equipped jewellery studio.

Join us for a FREE Tea 'N Chat with Textile artist and teacher LINDA HARVEY who talks about her work.
We are excited to have the immensely talented mixed-media textile artist Linda Harvey join us for our April Tea 'N Chat event. With over 25 years of experience in both teaching and creating, Linda brings a deep well of knowledge and a true passion for her craft. As the Head of Textiles at Archbishop Holgate's School in York and a dedicated member of York Textile Artists and The Society for Embroidered Work, Linda's commitment to her art is truly inspiring.
On the night, during the event, we will be running a mini competition to win one of Linda's new Books ‘INSPIRED BY YOU’ 100 Days of Textiles Art



Linda’s artwork is a mesmerizing fusion of rustic textures and innovative techniques. Drawing inspiration from her travels, she transforms photographs into expressive, abstract textile creations. Her work beautifully reflects her love for color and texture, incorporating elements such as hand-felted backgrounds, free-motion embroidery, intricate layering, and rust dyeing.

LINDA HARVEY  Textile Artist and Head of Textiles at Archbishop Colgate School, York

Linda studied Textiles and Surface Design at University Centre Somerset, graduating in 1994. She is a textile artist and Head of Textiles at a York secondary school and a member of York Textile Artists and The Society for Embroidered Work, which promotes and supports the best in stitched art worldwide.
The inspiration for her work mainly comes from the places she visits, taking photographs of anything that catches her eye. These photographs give a starting point from which her work evolves, often working on several pieces at a time, as she enjoys an expressive and experimental way of working.
Linda is inspired by rustic textures and the ageing process, drawn to anything corroded and tarnished and immediately seeing how it can be turned into a textile art piece. Colour and texture are the key elements in her work.



The Textiles Skills Centre Associates are a team of volunteers that manage the social media platforms and website, and offer support, mentorship and advice to textile teachers and trainees. We organise free resource networking events each month (Tea 'N Chat) and are always on hand to help and encourage when needed.

Our courses are social and interactive whether delivered online or in-person. Our aim is to introduce and build crafting skills and the basic skills needed for success in the workplace and at home, including self-confidence, problem solving, communicating in a group, basic maths and English. We teach over 45 different paper craft and mixed media techniques. Each course is carefully constructed to help you develop your crafting skills and knowledge.
Crafting and our courses are mindful, taking us away from the day-to-day. Participants have consistently reported improvements in their wellbeing. Anyone who wants to learn new skills can join our programmes. No previous experience of papercrafting or mixed media work is needed. We have delivered courses successfully in Cambridgeshire for 6 1/2 years and have worked with 280 Cambridges residents during this time. 86% of participants state that what we offer has helped to improve their wellbeing. 75% state that it has made a positive difference to their daily lives.

Craft4Smiles C.I.C. 

A standalone 10 week/session course that will introduce you to the basic materials, tools, equipment and techniques used in paper crafting and mixed media work and to Craft4Smiles C.I.C and our tutors.  You will be sent all the materials and equipment needed to complete the course. At the end of each lesson you will have a crafted item to take away to keep or show family and friends. Over the 6 weeks we will be exploring different media - acrylics, watercolours, distress inks etc, but it is up to you which medium you would like to use and have fun with.
