On this full day course you will have the opportunity to make a couple of pieces of jewellery from silver clay. Silver clay is relatively new to the world of jewellery making, introduced by Mitsubishi in the early 90's. It is made from tiny particles of reclaimed and recycled silver which are mixed with a non toxic organic binder. The clay can be rolled, textured, moulded and carved. During firing, the binder burns away and the silver particles sinter so you are left with a beautiful piece of solid silver.
There are so many possibilities to create some beautiful jewellery. In your full day class you will learn some of the basic techniques needed to create silver clay jewellery and shown how to use the required tools in the workshop.
- Designed for total beginners and people looking to improve - Dawn will meet you at your level and help you progress. 
- Small class numbers so you get plenty of tutor time (5 people max). 
- The class starts at 10am and ends 4.30pm. 
- Most people make a pair of earrings and a pendant.

Come and join one our classes at the jewellery business studio. We have the tools and the experience, you&rsquo;ll go home thrilled and wearing your new jewellery with pride! Small classes mean you get plenty of one to one time with your tutor.
Everyone is here to enjoy themselves and have fun doing something unique &ndash; we pride ourselves on having a friendly and open group of people to work with (new friendships are often formed here!). These classes are suitable for beginners and those with some skills already. We will meet you at your level and teach what you need.&nbsp;
No matter if you&rsquo;ve never made jewellery before. No matter how creative you are, we&rsquo;ll work with you. And trust us, you&rsquo;ll surprise yourself at what you can do.
Weekly Classes
Weekly classes with Emmie run on Wednesday and Thursday evenings and also Thursday mornings. These sessions are 2 hours long each and should be block booked (six sessions &ndash; flexible start and finish point). Once you have purchased your block of 6 sessions, you will be given access to our calendar where you can book onto the sessions you wish to attend. Evening sessions run from 6-8pm and morning sessions from 10am-12 noon. In these sessions you will learn skills such as, soldering, piercing (cutting silver with a saw), shaping your metal into rings or pendants. Classes do not have a fixed set of skills, we will teach you what you need to learn to create your design &ndash; so the skills will be tailored for you on an individual basis. If you don&rsquo;t have a design in mind Emmie will help you to create something and learn the basics, so don't worry about ideas if you don't have any yet.
6 sessions cost &pound;120 plus the cost of your metal - the metal costs are to be paid on the day of your class. The cost of the metal depends on your designs and will probably be much less than you expect. At the end of the sessions you can expect to leave with a couple of pieces of silver jewellery &ndash; unique to you!

Come and join one our classes at the jewellery business studio. We have the tools and the experience, you’ll go home thrilled and wearing your new jewellery with pride! Small classes mean you get plenty of one to one time with your tutor.
Everyone is here to enjoy themselves and have fun doing something unique – we pride ourselves on having a friendly and open group of people to work with (new friendships are often formed here!). These classes are suitable for beginners and those with some skills already. We will meet you at your level and teach what you need. 
No matter if you’ve never made jewellery before. No matter how creative you are, we’ll work with you. And trust us, you’ll surprise yourself at what you can do.
Weekly Classes
Weekly classes with Emmie run on Wednesday and Thursday evenings and also Thursday mornings. These sessions are 2 hours long each and should be block booked (six sessions – flexible start and finish point). Once you have purchased your block of 6 sessions, you will be given access to our calendar where you can book onto the sessions you wish to attend. This ticket will book you onto your first session, the following 5 sessions can be booked at your convenience via our online calendar at The Jewellery Business. (View the calendar here)

In these sessions you will learn skills such as, soldering, piercing (cutting silver with a saw), shaping your metal into rings or pendants. Classes do not have a fixed set of skills, we will teach you what you need to learn to create your design – so the skills will be tailored for you on an individual basis. If you don’t have a design in mind Emmie will help you to create something and learn the basics, so don't worry about ideas if you don't have any yet.
6 sessions cost £120 plus the cost of your metal - the metal costs are to be paid on the day of your class. The cost of the metal depends on your designs and will probably be much less than you expect. At the end of the sessions you can expect to leave with a couple of pieces of silver jewellery – unique to you!

Make some beautiful jewellery and learn the skills involved with an experienced tutor in a well equipped workshop. No experience necessary. You'll love it!

In this class we create nine 16 patch blocks.&nbsp; Each one of these will be quilted in a different design using a walking foot and straight line quilting. We will the join the blocks and create a quilt using a quilt as you go method. &nbsp;
You can create your quilt with co-ordinated fabrics or else you can go for a scrappy quilt.&nbsp; If you prefer, materials can be provided.

We offer a wide range of experience days to cater for groups up to twelve, of any ability and will provide tutors to fit your group size so whether you want to come on your own, with a loved one, or as a larger group such as a stag or hen do or team building with colleagues, then get in touch. Some of the items we aim to make are- Coat hooks, toasting folks, fire pokers, chestnut roasters, door knockers, curtain poles are just a few to mention and this is discussed at the time of booking. Whilst experiencing an exciting ancient tradition you will have loads of fun and most importantly a masterpiece made by yourself to proudly take home. We also offer further experience days for those that wish to broaden their skills further. PPE will be provided along with a warming lunch, snacks and drinks all included.

Join us for a FREE Tea 'N Chat with NICKY SIMPSON who will demo and lead a mini workshop on Surface textiles and talk about her online courses.

Nicky's aim is to show how easily accessible surface textiles techniques can be for every level of student and how it can be delivered in a fun and engaging way.
She will also introduce you to her online and face-2-face courses with an opportunity to ask questions.




JOIN IN THE FUN:

'Marbling'
Marbling is great way of introducing a quick and easy surface technique if you have little to no prior experience. Especially good for students who will get immediate exciting and inspiring results.!
A beginner friendly workshop to produce great artwork for textile projects.

If you want to join in you will need: 
tray of cold water (min 5cm deep)
oil paint 2 colours
white spirit
glass jar and brush to mix/have a cloth for spills and a table cover
pipette 
paper or fabric to marble
