Join us to create a 2-D needle felted picture with a Christmas theme.&nbsp; We will use a felt background and use the wide range of merino wool fibres to develop your picture. &nbsp;
You will learn how to blend fibres to create new shades of wool and to apply them to build the design and develop depth to your design.&nbsp; As it is Christmas we will blend in some sparkly fibres to add that little bit of winter magic. &nbsp; Hannah will be on hand to support you as you create your picture

Needlefelt a Christmas Scene

The Nell Blouse or Dress is perfect for confident beginners and with Emma's help you will find this a most enjoyable day of dressmaking. 
The dress can be made in various styles with faux bow ties or buttons, puff ball sleeves or straight long or short sleeves.  Blouse can be straight or with a peplum.  So many options which will you choose!
During the day you will be guided through choosing your size, interpreting the pattern, cutting out efficiently and construction of the dress / blouse.   She will help you sew your garment and get to grips with button holes if you choose that option. 
We will work towards you finishing your garment in the day so the style options may need to change depending on your skill level.  The main thing is you learn and have fun so don't panic if you don't quite complete your dress or blouse, the pattern is yours to keep with full step by step photo instructions.
Tea and cake included, bring a packed lunch.  No need to bring a machine as the sewing studio is fully equipped.   You are welcome to purchase your own fabric and supplies or take advantage of the discounted bundles scroll through the photos above to choose a fabric bundle. 

Dressmaking

Spend a day sewing the Nell Dress or blouse from Tilly and the Buttons.

Weekend patchwork quilt basics, spread over two weekend this course will cover an introduction to patchwork on the sewing machine.&nbsp;&nbsp;Using a &lsquo;Jelly Roll&rsquo; pack.&nbsp;&nbsp;These are width of fabric two and a half inch strips which are sold in coordinating and complimentary colours to save us having to think too hard about fabric choices.&nbsp;&nbsp;
We will create simple quilt blocks using the strips so the quilt will come together (relatively) quickly.&nbsp; Once the piecing of blocks is done, we will join with sashing, create a quilt sandwich and quilt using the machine. &nbsp; Last but not least we will cover binding. &nbsp;
You will need to bring your own fabrics for this course but we give you help as to where to find your fabrics. &nbsp;On the first session &nbsp;ring along a Jelly Roll and a quarter inch presser foot for your machine or use one of the studio PFAFF machines. &nbsp;Alternatively if you would rather upcycle bring a few items of cotton clothing in your favourite colours which we can cut into 2.5 inch strips.&nbsp;

Learn to create cushions for your home, we will cover a basic cushion and also piping, ruffles and zip insertion.

Join us to make a wet felted bird, you can choose to make it as realistic or fantastic as you wish. &nbsp;Karen Lane will be teaching us to make a bird in just one day - you can choose from a seated or standing style - if standing the legs will require some homework but full instructions and support will be provided. &nbsp;Karen is Mixed Media Textile Artist with a passion for Feltmaking.&nbsp; She discovered the art of Feltmaking in 2014 and immediately fell in love with the very physical and tactile process of transforming loose soft fibres into a unique piece of seamless felt. &nbsp;Karen is a member of the International Feltmakers Association and runs workshops in Feltmaking and Textile Art both here in the UK and in France.&nbsp;We will provide all materials. &nbsp;Over the day&nbsp;we will be wet felting around resists using Carded Corriedale. Templates will be provided so you will need to decide the style ahead of time. &nbsp;We will discuss ways in which these can be adapted to make a variety of different types of birds. &nbsp;There&rsquo;s also scope for further embellishing your work with hand embroidery if that&rsquo;s something you would like to do.We will provide drinks and cake through the day to keep your felt making stamina up - just bring any felt making equipment you own (we have plenty you can use too) a couple of hand towels &nbsp;and a packed lunch.&nbsp;

Join us to create a crochet Christmas Baubles with some festive cheer!
During this two and a half hour session Emma will show you how to give a tired old Christmas bauble a new lease of life. Emma will demonstrate how to hold your yarn and hook and how to do the stitches and change colour. She will then be on hand through out the workshop to help you create your Christmas Bauble.
Most people finish during the workshop or get several rounds done, the full instructions are provided and a YouTube tutorial so you can finish off or make more at home.

About your tutor
Priti loves to sew. Her mum was a seamstress and she used to love to watch her work. She found time during lockdown to get creative and started sewing bunting, cushions and tote bags but quickly moved on to making clothes for herself and her children. Now there is nothing that Priti won’t have a go at sewing. She really enjoys creating something beautiful and new from a simple piece of fabric. 
Teaching others has been part of Priti's day job for many years. She is now excited to be using these skills to help people get sewing and have some fun along the way!

The course content is delivered over seven live Zoom sessions, in a small, welcoming group with plenty of opportunities for interaction. Additionally, there will be optional (but highly recommended) assignments to complete in between the live sessions - assignments designed to get you stuck in to your creative practice in new and interesting ways.During each live session, there will be a demonstration focusing on a particular aspect of visual art - this will include various materials, subjects, and considerations such as composition, theme, mark-making, layering, and so on. We will also have a look at everyone&rsquo;s recent creations, with celebration of the triumphs and suggestions for moving forward with work-in-progress. She is on a mission to reshape the STEAM education and make it inclusive for all. 
With 7 years of STEAM teaching experience, a well developed background in Textile Science and Engineering and extensive experience working with companies such as IBM, she decided to reshape STEAM education. As a winner of Dean’s Prize of Czech Technical University and creator of sound generative haptic suit,  Linette believes that education and technology are key to building a prosperous future for everyone.

With time in between each session to practice and complete projects I'm pretty sure you'll be hooked! A kit is provided to get you started and you'll have all the help and advice you need. The sessions are run either online or in person so you can do them at a time that suits you. And I'm always available in between to help and answer questions.
What you will need: Access to WiFi, screen and sound. Scissors and a bowl (optional!).
What's Included: Starter kit, 2 x 6 hour sessions (or 6 x 2 hour sessions if you prefer), free online support between sessions

Our crochet workshop will start from scratch and finish as a confident crocheter. You'll learn the basic stitches and develop onto decorative stitches, so that by the end of the course you can produce a number of products of your choice from decorations to cardigans.

We offer one-to-one sessions in the comfort of your own home and are always available for help in between sessions.
