Description

Come and spend a day at Stitching Kitchen when guest tutor Karen Lane will be teaching us to make a wet felted bird in just one day. Your creation can be as realistic or fantastic as you wish. You can choose from a seated or standing style.

Over the day we will be wet felting around resists using Carded Corriedale. Templates will be provided so you will need to decide the style ahead of time (scroll through the images above for the options). We will discuss ways in which these can be adapted to make a variety of different types of birds. There’s also scope for further embellishing your work with hand embroidery if that’s something you would like to do.

What you will learn/achieve

Wet felting around resists using Carded Corriedale.

Using templates to make your design.

Opportunity to hand embellish your work.

You will take home a finished bird at the end of the session. If you choose to make a standing style, the legs will require some homework but full instructions and support will be provided.

What's included

Tuition: full instruction and support in a friendly and inclusive environment.

All the materials and templates that you will need on the day, including Carded Corriedale.

Use of felting tools in the Stitching Kitchen studio on the day in addition to any of your own that you bring.

Tea and cake.

What to bring

Bring any felt making equipment you own (Stitching Kitchen has plenty you can use too) and a couple of hand towels.

A packed lunch.
